Feel a little sorry for him but tough - think the WC is more of a publicity stunt for him at this rate given he's not going to start. Let's hope Rooney breaks something (preferably his neck) between now and the finals.

Couple of broken legs wouldn't go amiss.

He wouldn't have started anyway, Capello might as well take somebody like that Adam Johnson gives him some options and gets Johnson some experience.
                    We come not to play.

Unbelievable the amount of media coverage - even on 5Live. People will be laying bouquets of flowers soon FFS.

It's amazing to think that with all his money, good looks, cars etc he's way way more unhappier than I am today

Felt a bit sorry for him when I heard. He would have been a good person to have around the squad. But I'll get over it.

I feel sorry for Beckham but I also think it is a bit of problem for England. All the other leaders in the squad are in poor form or injured, the best option for the right (Lennon) is out injured too. I think he would have been a valuable stabilising influence in the team.

Not sure who it benefits in terms of the England pecking order really as it is currently looking a bit of a mess any way and there aren't any other experienced players on the fringes. No one has really put down a marker for either flank position of late. We need pace in at least one of those positions. I imagine we will take Gerrard, Walcott and Milner with those positions in mind but Johnson, Bentley and Young have not really been in the forefront of Capello's mind when picking squads until now.

Take Adam Johnson, very good player and always causes problems.

Great goal on the weekend as well.

Sky Sports News is running updates on whether Beckham has arrived in Finland, etc.

Talk about OTT. It's almost as bad as the coverage after Princess Diana suggested a game of chicken.
                                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
