The infrastructure round our new ground might need more work than that of the Allianz arena. It was a stadium made for the world cup to so maybe a couple of grants or cheap deals helped with it.

How come it's so much cheaper?

Ours is reportedly meant to cost £350m, Wembley and Emirates both cost the best part of £1b. I know they're bigger and in London, but should they really cost nearly four times as much???

How come the Allianz Arena cost 'only' £230m?
The Alliance Arena was designed by Herzog De Mueron. Pretty much the world leaders in architectural innovation. They are truly brilliant, check out some of their buildings. They just get the most out of what they are given to work with i guess. I'd love to work for them

Basically the cost relates back to materials. HdM can get so much out of plastics and the like it could save you loads of money...and still be an impressive stadium/building. Allianz is the perfect example of this. Cheap (as far as high tech stadiums go) and incredibly impressive on the eye

The new Wembley was done by Norman Foster, and whilst he's a cracking architect....he's not known for being thrifty. You get something designed by him, its going to have a **** load of glass, and its going to cost you an absolute bomb

I think Herzog de Mueron also designed a new stadium for Portsmouth...but i guess thats been shelved

                  Low cost materials..

Also, having visited when I worked in Munich, It is pretty much in an area with nothing else around.. i.e Housing, Development etc

                  Sounds like a good answer..
                  Off topic

I've had a tie-up with a German suppplier for 25 years, they are light years ahead of ANY other nation when it comes to engineering. That said, the UK has no dearth of engineers or designers it's just that we can't be arsed to utilise their development skills.

Wouldnt our new ground (if built) be used for the 2018 WC though, if England gets it?

the germans have really made the world cup they hosted count, it's really given the whole league a big lift, fantastic stadiums throughout the country(and not just the ones built for the world cup, they built a lot of new stadia that weren't used there) that are always full, good support, and not to mention you can drink beer inside the stadium

thats pretty much it - it doesn't matter in the UK if we are building sheds in our own back gardens, extensions to houses, walls, houses, shops, supermarkets, shopping centres, bus stations, public buildings or stadiums - it will always be over budget and late.
