not refusing to accept rafa is a top manager in fact am happy to see what he can do next season .....but rafa is his own worst enemy re selction and tactics ........ how we can go from playing brilliantly last season and 2nd place to being a mid table side and playing poorly is beyond me ...thing with Mourinho yes he brings baggage but he also brings a winning mentality and trophies

mythical media baggage?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWhat is this mythical baggage? Media attention? As if we havent had plenty of that anyway. A club like ours will always be a headline maker. I'd rather we made them as a successul club winning honours, than as a laughing stock failure.
Cant speak for anyone else on their desired style of play, but i want a winning one. How that's achieved is of little importance to me, in terms of 'entertaining football'. Winning trophies is plenty entertaining enough for me.
Rafa's a very good manager, who isnt succeeding at Liverpool.
are you having a laugh Craig?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

if it wasnt for that (mythical) baggage i would agree if Rafa left or didnt do something much better next season i would like to see maureen here.Originally posted by Bender View Postnot refusing to accept rafa is a top manager in fact am happy to see what he can do next season .....but rafa is his own worst enemy re selction and tactics ........ how we can go from playing brilliantly last season and 2nd place to being a mid table side and playing poorly is beyond me ...thing with Mourinho yes he brings baggage but he also brings a winning mentality and trophies
I think most of what he does is ok.

hoever maureen is a bit much

I think most people could/should agree that both are good managers, but they just have a very different public display. They are more or less the exact same type tactician and plays the same style of football, and have been succesfull at the clubs they have been at.Originally posted by Marsh View Posti think everyone accepts he is a winner. which surely makes him a top class manager
The two problems are
1. the baggage he brings
2. the style of football. the very people that want rid of rafa will get the same pragmatic football with maureen.
but refusing to accept rafa is a top manager is ok.
Personally I don't care to much about the bagage Mourinho brings, it includes loads of trophies and a very good relationship with his players and fans.
I would however agree that the style of football he plays is not particular entertaining or attacking, and it reminds me to much of our current style of play. Not many neutral fans think we play attractive football either.
I would prefer getting a manager that plays attractive and attacking style of football, but if we are to play otherwise Mourinho is among the best there are as well as Capello. Rafa has done very well with this style as well, although not in the last couple of years.

Some of the comments on here are hilariousOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostYet you want rafa to stay?

Mate, winning 'ugly' is how we won the european cup - remember turin?
Rafa is slagged off for being too defensive minded and yet the same people are sucking Jose off for doing the same thing
Mourinho to me has always been as defensive minded as Rafa
That said if it meant winning the title I'd have him as manager (and I think hes a total cunt of a person)
I just dont believe that getting Mourinho guarantees that title, his appointment would have to go hand in hand with a HUGE investment in the playing staff to give us a chance of the titleBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I remember us going there a couple of years ago and beating themOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostPut other teams at the Nou Camp, with 10 men and see how long they hold out for, or how many they lose by. Most sides lose there by about 3 or 4, with 11 men.

And i don't belive he'd come anywhere near us unless that was the case, as he proved when given the choice to mange LFC or Chelsea.
When talking new managers, i think fans should look at who is 'realistically' going to replace Rafa should he go, and right now i don't see Maureen as a realistic option.Last edited by Vermilion; 29-04-10, 01:04 PM.

Yes, but as I said before Inter were already Serie A champions for the 3 seasons before he arrived. Given a net spend of 24m euros a season I would expect any decent manager to be able to win them the next title. There's a huge difference between what it costs to get a team top the top than to keep a team at the top. It's not just what you spend but where you start at. Mourinho's Inter squad started at a higher level and had twice as much money spent on it. The comparison in success levels is not solely down to the difference in the net spend and (any) differences in managerial ability, but also the starting position.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI'll give you that, but the gap between the two relative levels of net spend and between the two relative levels of success between the two teams, is nowhere near close to matching. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He is someone who likes a challenge and if the challenge means spending less money than his opponents and still outwitting them, then he'd like it esp with the 'Huge spender' tag around him.I just dont believe that getting Mourinho guarantees that title, his appointment would have to go hand in hand with a HUGE investment in the playing staff to give us a chance of the title
He spends, but you have to accept the fact that he's a winner.
His first choice targets this yr were Carvalho and Deco but he got Lucio and Sneijder instead.A Lucio who has been dreadful for Bayern for the last two yrs. He transformed them and bought the hunger back into their game.
You could give him 25-30m this season and he can land you the League with a good run in Europe.Last edited by destinydude; 29-04-10, 02:14 PM.Patience when teased often, transforms into rage

Not a ****ing chance
Sorry there is no way we'd win the League even if fecking Jesus was manager by spending only £25-30 million
I think Jose's a good manager but some people are getting carried away with his hypeBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Johnson-Agger-Skrtel- (New LB)
Masch-Aquilani
Maxi-Gerrard-Benayoun
Torres
Back ups
Dege-Kyrgiakos-Carragher-Insua
Kuyt-Lucas-New CM-Riera
Babel-N'Gog
Pacheco/Kelly/Aurelio(?)
He can sell who ever he wants and then add 25-30m to that and what's wrong with the squad? It's almost the same squad that finished 2nd last season
Some people are just getting carried away with what they've seen this season. The squad is far far better than what it's made out to be this season.
Maureen likes a big strong striker, so he could get one for 15m and then sell some misfits(Babel,Riera?) and then add 25m to that to buy an additional CM and a LB and a Winger and he can sort it out.Last edited by destinydude; 29-04-10, 02:29 PM.Patience when teased often, transforms into rage
