Got to agree, i see nothing wrong with this...like the man says, he's left his home, his friends, his country to come to a country where he doesn't speak the language, he has no one around him and has no affinity to the club...why else would he be here if not for the money?

It's not a crime, it's looking out for number one, and we would all do it, if we couldn't play for Liverpool, we would move to wherever the money took us.

Every player has a poor run of time one time or the other. It happens to players who play with passion and players who play for money.

It's something people will have to accept regardless of money and it isnt like he's on massive wages. He's only getting what he should be and that too in the richest League in the World.

You're missing my point, I know all players go through bad patches, I was saying that he'll probably get more stick than most from when he does because of these comments. The immplication will be that "he's not trying, because he only wants the money" whether he is trying but just off form or whatever

I'm genuinely not convinced by that argument. I suspect that a lot of top footballers are doing it as a job rather than being driven by passion.

I like him more for the interview. I'm bored with the banal, vacuous, identikit interviews given by most footballers. There isn't a lot of great insight there but at least there is honesty.

I'm sure Agger has done a similar interview in the past, and before him, Batistuta.

Freedom of speech, he's not enhancing his own reputation and is merely stating a fact that the money's good enough in England to put all other factors aside. He doesn't love the club he's at and will end up back in France with a swollen bank account. Good for him, I don't respect him any more or less.

And, come on, we've all whored ourselves at one stage in our lives. Whether it be crawling to a boss, bringing a teacher a present at Xmas or whatever. There aren't many people who can, hand on heart, swear that they've never done something that didn't want to purely in order to better themselves
