Carrick in, no parker or Huddlestone. Not good.

I'm surprised he hasn't gone - we need to have a pacey threat down one wing and I'm not convinced that, other than Lennon, any of the other options is much better.

Johnson looks a good player but I'm not seeing the genius some ascribe to him.

I thought the fact that Johnson was left footed may have gone in his favour.

Walcott, Lennon and SWP are all quite similar players (small, quick, and can (arguably ) beat a man. Johnson seems to offer slightly something different.

I feel really sorry for Parker, he's off the back of a storming season with West Ham and he's a player you can only admire - gives it 100% no matter what.

sums up the press and media frenzy in this country - whilst i totally agree that capello should dicuss this with each player indvidually - it should be kept private, and then squad announced as a whole.

Plus - are they not all together in the training camp - surely all of this could have been kept away from the media behind closed doors until it was announced.

I can see why Huddlestone was left out - he's a similar type of player to Carrick and if both were in form then he is by far the inferior model. It's not in line with the idea of selecting on form but then Huddlestone has done little in his limited international game time to suggest he might step up.

Parker is much the best tackler of the three and that would have been enough to give him a place for me. It was clear when he wasn't given game time in the friendlies though that he hadn't done enough.

Did he really have a "storming season"? I always doubt it when people say this, I can't say I saw them much this season, but he's always reported as being amazing for them this season. Whenever I did they were all utter, utter ****e. Was he really that good? Honest question. Upson was another one.

Nah the players flew home from Austria on Sunday, went home and reconvene this afternoon, before flying out tomorrow.

What time is the squad officially being accounced at?

The reserve left-back is Warnock. Baines left out.

Thinking about it, this squad is hardly any different from the squad that went to Germany four years ago. Shows a worrying lack of genuine young talent coming through really. The obvious difference is we have a world class manager

He was their player of the season, despite struggling with injury a fair bit. That's about as much as I know

Parker's decent IMO but he gives away far too many free kicks and he'd be a liability in the World Cup in that sense.

very strange - bit of a **** house trick from capello if you ask me.

He had all the players there at a training camp and could have got them together and spoke to each player face to face and then announced the squad.

                                I blame parry
