West Brom have abandoned their interest in signing former Manchester United and Aston Villa midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba due to him not being very good.
Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo was hopeful of landing the Cameroon international after holding talks with the player this week.
Djemba-Djemba, who is currently with BK Odense, played in last night's friendly at Doncaster.
But the club this morning released a statement confirming they will not be attempting to sign Djemba-Djemba.
It reads: "West Brom have decided not to pursue their interest in Odense midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba.
"He travelled to England to meet the club earlier this week.
"Having watched him play yesterday it was decided he was every bit as bad as he was when he played for Manchester United, Albion have decided not to proceed with a deal."
It is unclear what the precise problem is but a source close to the club led us to believe it was his sheer lack of ability and Matteo is alleged to have lol'ed at djemba-djemba's first pass on the night. West Brom clearly felt it was too great a risk to take a chance on the player who made no impact at Old Trafford and Villa Park.
Di Matteo is aware that he has to bring in more new blood before the season starts and a striker is a priority.
Roman Bednar, Luke Moore and Simon Cox are all struggling for fitness and a bid to sign Liverpool's David N'Gog on loan looks to have failed.
Di Matteo said: "It is a big concern to us at the moment. We are working on things but it's difficult. Everyone is after a striker.
"I've been saying since the end of last season that we need more players."
Ishmael Miller is the only experienced fit striker at present and Di Matteo has been linked with moves for Stoke's James Beattie and PSV Eindhoven's Marcus Berg.
Sami Khedira's agent claims that the Stuttgart midfielder is moving closer to a summer switch to Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old Germany international is out of contract next summer and has seen his stock rise after a series of impressive displays at the World Cup in South Africa.
Khedira's agent, Jorg Neubauer, is confident that personal terms with Real will present no problem, but accepts that a fee must still be agreed between the two clubs.
"Everything is fine for us with Real Madrid so far," Neubauer told Bild.
"If they reach agreement with Stuttgart, the transfer will take place."
Stuttgart's new director of sport, Fredi Bobic, admitted earlier in the week that he was planning to hold talks over a new deal with the talented midfielder.
But he has conceded that Khedira will have to be sold this summer if he does not commit to a new contract, given he would be entitled to a free transfer in 12 months' time.
Surely there has to be someone we could pick up from the Madrid squad?
Am I right in thinking that Khedira wasn't even going to the world cup before Ballack's injury. Pretty impressive rise in prominence for the man. Also think it adds weight to the argument that some players develop at a later time and that perhaps supporters should not be so keen to write people off when they get to 21.

A few impressive performances at the World Cup doesn't mean he's a world beater all of a sudden. Also I think he's performances should be taken into context that the Germans were a solid unit - individually they might not be as good as they seem. Their only player I was really impressed with was Thomas Mueller, even Ozil wasn't that great tbh...
