I've read somewhere, dunno if it was a joke.....and I'm paraphrasing here....that Ferguson has basically been blackmailed into buying this lad, as some sort of payment for someone in Portugal to keep quiet about something. yeah i mentioned it in balotelli thread - unreal, they have no method at all it's just buy every single player we can...i have spoken to a few city fans, they are actually quite guted about it all, they felt they were moving forward under hughes, had a few talented players and would rather they went about it all a bit better, ie spend like £50m a summer improving were needed. England midfielder Milner's switch is thought to have been held up by City midfielder Stephen Ireland's demand for a £2m payment to leave Eastlands.
City have offered Aston Villa £18m for Milner, 24, with Ireland moving in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
But Ireland is understood to be insisting on receiving £2m from City, a sum the club are unwilling to pay. we won't pay you £2million but will pay yaya what's his name £200k a week
