Problem is as we get further on Rooney is going to be essential. He's our only world class striker.

On his current form he should be off, but we need to try and play him into form.

I do think that, while england have played reasonably well, Slovenia have made it straightforward for them, by seemingly not having a proper gameplan.

I thought Slovenia would park the bus and make it hard. Then i saw their lineup, with 2 forwards, and thought 'maybe they are going to have a go'.

They've done neither and allowed England to dicate the tempo.

they've kept the ball well, crossing has been excellent and Lampard has looked a little better. Rooney has been absolute ****e. Lovely touch for Defoe for the goal.
