I'll quote myself from the Aussie forum again:

Last WC you over achieved. Your own players said before this tournament that the Aussie fans had too high hopes, that you had a chance of getting out of group but you'd need some luck. That was a realistic aim.
There's no shame, it's your 4th sport, if you like it just enjoy it for what it is without getting carries away with the results.
Your players always show plenty of bottle even if they do lack in skill and they're still a credit to the nation.

I was talking about Aussie sports fans in general, an aussie forum with 364,000 members as a far higher sample rate than here so I wasn't basing it upon your good self
