    FIFA should **** off.
Netherlands 1974. Jan Jongbloed wore the number 8 jersey and was third choice keeper. He didn't expect to play so supposedly took his fishing gear to the world cup so he'd have something to do.

He also played in 78 but obviously by then wasn't third choice.

    I agree about FIFA.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Was he an outfield player originally then?

        No.

Well, he might have been when he was 11 or something but he was definitely a goalkeeper by 1974.

I remember him hopping over the ball at one point so maybe his status as third choice wasn't entirely bonkers.

Fave story of the world cup, so far. I can see N. Korea chasing a game and sending him on in goalie's kit, but having him hover around the opposition penalty area for the last 10 minutes and then lots of mad sprints back to cover breakaways.

How funny would it be if the North Koreans didn't actually know the rules of football. I mean, has anybody actually seen them play? Would love to see them concede a free kick then the whole wall charging out to kick the ball when the ref blows his whistle

How gutted would you be? You've been selected for the World Cup as a striker, then find out your only chance to play would be in goal! He might as well not even bother going!

I agree with everyone else it's a stupid rule

It's been submitted, I thought they could only change it now if they suffer a major injury upto 24hrs before their first game?

I believe that is correct and i now fully expect the manager to kneecap one of their players in order to be allowed to make a change.

What's the betting he'll injure one of the other keepers though?

No, trying to touch his ear with his elbow, someone bet him he couldn't do it.
