I blame 4-2-3-1. Its too easy to defend against and yet these 'world class coaches' still can't understand that. Brazil played 2 holding mids against ****ing north korea and not spain did the same against another team that were obviously going to defend for their lives. Its just so pointless. I feared spain would use busquets today and they did. It takes away from their natural creativity. 1 less man going forward

That system should be fine if you have a world class target man who can finish, and if the three players playing behind him are all top quality, with pace, the ability to run at defenders, and create.Originally posted by -V- View PostI blame 4-2-3-1. It's a good formation when you're playing against relative equals, but I totally agree - against significantly weaker sides it's a total waste of ****ing time.Originally posted by -V- View PostI blame 4-2-3-1. Again I agree but Spain have exactly that. There's a man essentially wasted, sitting deep and doing nothing, not being tested defensively and barely contributing going forward.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThat system should be fine if you have a world class target man who can finish, and if the three players playing behind him are all top quality, with pace, the ability to run at defenders, and create. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

like i said before i think a lot has to do with the off the ball movement being too safe, moving out wide into space and then trying to squeeze a ball back into the box which is too difficult when only 1 or 2 men are in there, the off the ball movement needs to be more inventive, through the middle. its riskier and you will loose possession more but its worth the risk. this obsession with possession just aint worth it96 Never Forgotten
