    Favourite World Cup Goals/Moments

I'm surprised nobody's posted this thread already, but with just over a week to go, looking back on previous World Cup moments really whets the appetite for next week.

So i'll start things off with this superb wondergoal from 1998...

    Sublime effort.

The dutch commentary is a bit special too

Had to post it again, with BBC commentary because Barry Davies' work here is brilliant too. You can hear the absolutely sublime nature of the goal in his voice

That goal absolutely took my breath away

Roberto Baggio, Italy v Czechoslovakia from Italia 90

First picks up the ball literally on the halfway line. Beautiful beautiful goal.

Lothar Matthaus, West Germany v Yugoslavia - Italia 90.

        Another favourite of mine.

        Sorry about the music.

Absolutely loved the way he took Rustu by surprise by toe poking the shot so early, just genius.

                    Can't remember, did he?

I remember that so vividly. In my minds eye he was about 65 yards out (I was 8 at the time) and so every time I see it now I'm always a bit disappointed. At the time I'd never seen a goal like that before.

Similarly Norman Whiteside's against Everton in the 85 Cup Final. I remember it as being curled into the corner from just inside the touchline. Like, miles out. Suffice to say it wasn't.

                    Another World Cup moment...

Was the keeper in that Bergkamp clip Carlos Roa, who went off to live in the mountains or something?

Here's the other beauty he scored in 86, was against Poland. Fast forward to 1 minute 15 seconds and watch the gangly ****er twinkle-toe his way through

Dunno about the keeper but apparently the goalscorer was Dennis Bergkamp, Dennis Bergkamp, DENNIS BERGKAMP, DENNIS BERGKAMP, DENNIS BERGKAMP, DENNIS BERGKAMP, DENNIS BERGKAMP!!!
