How does that fare against the fact that england have been dumped out of the last few tournaments by Brazil and Portugal (twice) ?

    EDIT
I see you're clinging to this 'i said PLAY better', as opposed to actually winning.

So how does the notion of playing better (but ultimately losing) fare against the notion that "it's on" ? Or when you say 'its on', did you just mean a run to the quarter finals?
If you don't think england play with less nerves against the bigger sides then fair enough, but taking everything into consideration, it's usually the team that gets the rub of the green that go's through, historically England have'nt had that rub of the green, infact they've had the complete opposite

It's my opinion, and as for clinging to anything, if you'd have read my post properly as Shaggy did, you would'nt have needed to come up with the 'clinging to' remark that sets you apart from other posters on here, seem to remember we've been here before, you misreading posts and going off on a tangent only to be brought back down to earth with a big embarrassing bump. Thank you.

As i say. It is on, it is possible, we DO have the players to beat these sides, ffs, we could play the USA in the final for all anyone knows.

Where did i imply that it wasnt possible? Now who's misreading posts and going off on tangents? Embarrassing.

Nobody said it wasnt possible, i just said it's much harder to win the world cup if you have to beat all of Germany, Argentina, Spain and Brazil along the way. If you think that beating germany and argentina is somehow easier to do than beating Ghana and Uruguay, that's your lookout.

Oh dear, oh dear oh dear, excuse me, but could you point out where i say you 'imply' anything about it not being possible.

        Embarrassing.

You made a point of telling me how it's 'on' and 'possible' - as if i'd said otherwise.

Has the ring of a poster 'clinging' on to some self invented thought that Craig...

No, i merely said what i said, i don't think i accused you of having any point of view, just made my points.

And tbh, too much energy has now been wasted on this subject matter imo... all things considering.

It's an agree to disagree moment, as i'm sure you still don't agree, with...er....something.

We can easily restart the convo once england have thrown your faith in them back down your throat, and gone out of the tournament in a scenario of 'what ifs'.

Faith ? No not faith, just an opinion of what might happen, i'm just of the opinion that when it comes to England playing any of the sides we may have to play in this WC, on the day is when i matters, and on that day...we are as capable of beating them as they are of us, only Spain in TOP form frightens me, the others..bring it on. That is what i think. That's all i'm saying.

And would'nt it be ****in awesome to knock out Maradonna's Argentina, and we can do it, really never thought the saga of the hand of God would continue, but by **** here it is...England could go up against HIS Argentina, ok, and maybe he'll do us again the ****er, but we have this chance, and i'm happy we do...er...if we can beat the... Jeeeeermans.

                Don't start!

Or we could just live in hope and try and find the positives. Nothing wrong with that is there?

Don't get me wrong, not expecting us to win it or even make the final and will enjoy it anyways, but for now no harm in dreaming.

All this started because i had the apparent audacity to suggest that england's path would've been easier if they'd topped the group and been in the other side of the draw. That's all.

How radical of me to make such an obviously obscene point.

Changing history again i see, bloody hell Craig.

This actually started because i answered your post with an idea that we should look at this as an opportunity, being able to play Germany and Maradonna's Argies.

For some reason you then felt compelled to persuade me this side of the draw was more difficult, duhhhh...like i didn't know.

                                Dear wiw and other mods,

Can we have a sarcasm filter please?

Obviously a bad pun filter would also be good but then there'd be hardly anything on the site to read.

                                Thanks in advance,

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
