Can't understand why Villa fans would have wanted O'Neill gone last year. I think he has done a good job there. Look at the teams finishing above him - they have spent a lot of money to get there. I am sure we have spent more and couldn't do any better last year.

I'm just wondering because I've hearing (from a Villa fan) about them never having money to spend. I can only find last seasons transfers but they had a net spend of £21m last season (inc summer and January). I can't really remember any transfers before that to know to what extent that may or may not be a one off.

They never forgave him for going out of the UEFA cup in Russia after fielding a team with only 2 members of the first team squad. When they had a very good chance of going all the way.
