Well i hope we can beat City, or we're 4-5 points behind after 2 games, fixtures didn't help but it would have been nice to kick off with a couple of wins, it'll all even out over the season i know, but points on the board early are good.

I completely dont agree about things 'evening out' over the season. It's just a convenient 'everything balances' type of argument, when there's no actual evidence to back it up. People speak of the 'evening out' thing as if it's scientific fact or some kind of law It really isnt.
You wonder how long Martinez will last at this rate. They were on the end of a few tonkings last season and it looks like two already (at home) this season. Would be a shame though as I still think he has a lot of potential as a manager.
It's kind of good that Chelsea are looking so, err, good - bearing in mind we're not going to win the league then it's a case of anyone but the Mancs, and Chelsea will do.

I think he'll be the first PL manager to get the tin tack this season. Just listening to the match on the radio, and I can't remember the exact figures, but he's won something like four out of his last 32 or something?!

I mean the fact that we are playing two of our rivals to start while our other main rivals face smaller sides in either one or two of their opening games, i mean it will even out because they will have to play City/Arsenal anyway just as we'll get to play teams like Wigan....is all, and that is actually a fact, if not scientific.

Whilst that is true, you could argue that you'd want easier games to start with as you're unlikely to be in your best form so early on in the season. So in that sense it's annoying that we've been given two tough games to start with. I don't think there's any conspiracy behind it though.

Yeah i understand that point of view, in that it's 'even' because everyone plays everyone twice etc.
But when you play someone, is absolutely massive and crucial. In this respect, the fixture schedule is anything but even, IMO.

Do you think the fixture 'computer' is random?
I certainly dont. Random selection doesnt come up with this:
Liverpool's first game of the season:
10-11 Arsenal (h)
09-10 Spurs (a)
08-09 Sunderland (a)
07-08 Aston Villa (a)
06-07 Sheff Utd (a)
05-06 Middlesbrough (a)
04-05 Spurs (a)
03-04 Chelsea (h)
02-03 Aston Villa (a)
01-02 West Ham (h)
Man Utd's first game of the season:
10-11 Newcastle (h)
09-10 Birmingham (h)
08-09 Newcastle (h)
07-08 Reading (h)
06-07 Fulham (h)
05-06 Everton (a)
04-05 Chelsea (a)
03-04 Bolton (h)
02-03 West Brom (h)
01-02 Fulham (h)
