Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed he is willing to let goalkeeper Shay Given leave in January.
Given has been displaced as City's number one by Joe Hart this season and has not featured in any of the club's eight fixtures.
Speaking after City's 2-0 win at Wigan, Mancini said: "I told him that he can stay but I respect his decision and if he wants to leave he can.
"He decided to stay here and until January he must stay here."
Mancini admitted he understood the concerns of Given, who expressed his frustration at the lack of first-team opportunities earlier in the week.
"I have a lot of respect for Shay and I told him the situation," stated Mancini. "I understand his frustration but I need that Shay stays here and puts in 100%."
