Everything they have done so far will not be not be included in FPP. They will now look at reducing their wage bill over the next few years, finding new sponsorship deals (if United can have sponsor for their training kits, why can't City) and they will also have CL revenue which they've never had before.
Not sure how you go about reducing THAT wage bill though. And they need to reduce it massively too.

They havent a prayer of doing this
City made an annual loss of £194 million last year
Their revenue was £154 million
Their annual wage bill is £174 million
City themelves dont seem confident of meeting the criteria
"Consistent with the Club’s transformation strategy, and the stated ambition of commercial sustainability, these financial results represent the bottoming out of financial losses at Manchester City before the Club is able to move towards a more sustainable position in all aspects of its operations in the years ahead."
He added, “As we undertake the Club’s commercial transformation, we are cognisant of the incoming UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations and consequently we continue to maintain positive and ongoing dialogue with all appropriate football authorities.”
UEFA could impose a ban on City competing in its European competitions if they fail to meet the necessary requirements of FFPR. But as Daniel Geey explained, “The ECA recently announced that it believed the most severe penalty for non-FFPR compliance should not be outright exclusion from UEFA competition but a withholding of participation money or a transfer ban.
“This is where UEFA will have to tread a careful line between providing the necessary tough sanctions to deter would-be rule breakers whilst placating certain clubs who may be concerned at breaching the regulations.
“The interesting time will come once the license submissions in the 2013-14 season have been made and UEFA approves or rejects those license applications based on the FFPR criteria."
Discussion with UEFA makes me believe they themselves do not believe they can meet the criteria and will try talking their way out of any punishment
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
I think the problem is that nobody really knows what's going to happen with these rules and loop holes will be found as we get closer to it coming into play.
Depends whether UEFA close them off and enforce this properly or not, you hope they will but have a strong feeling they won't, Arns logic though seems to be spend, spend, spend with no clear plan apart from spending huge sums of money on players who may or may not make the difference.
Having Sheik Mansoor at City leaves City in a position where they can spend what they like as it's of no consquence to the level he's spending (FFP we need to see how and if it works) and the reality with us is that FSG will want a return and therefore unsustainable spending makes no sense.
And we've spent pretty well since they've come in but in a smart way, we now have decent squad depth and hopefully we look to get in 1 or 2 game changers which can be done within our spending capacity IMO
I hope that's the case as those "difference makers" won't be cheap but if we want to go the next level and compete for top honors I think it is imperative for us to bring 2 more young top notch players.
Ideally I'd like to see us bring 1 player (preferably a striker) in January, as long as that is feasible in terms of players availability, cos imo it will make a difference if we will get into top 4 or not.
Spurs and Gooners are playing atm very well and imo we will need little more quality and poise for us to overtake and keep 4th place cos not making into CL league will be very discouraging..
18 months ago the club needed that to survive today it doesnt
Thats not to say that the goal isnt to get into the CL but the club will still be here (in one form or another) without CL football
I don't doubt that not making into CL will make or break the club but not qualifying this year could have a huge consenquences for us.
If we don't make it it will be 3rd year in a row without top quality football and lack of it could have a tremendous impact on our bottom line.
We will struggle again to attract the quality players, we may lose a few world class footballers we have atm, our global fan base appeal will be impacted, our profit margins will shrink not only due to loss of CL revenue but our sponsors will be less likely to pay in the same range as other top 4 clubs in PL etc, the new stadium (if that is where a club is leaning toward) may need to be put on the back burner etc.
It is not the end if we don't make it but there is no denying it will affect us negatively at many different levels if we fail to reach CL competition next season.

Wasn't there something about the wages of contracts signed more than a couple of years ago not counting? This could help them out hugely.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Most businesses require initial investment. LFC is no different. The question is whether FSG's business plan/strategy identifies a need for an initial period of increased investment in the team.
They obviously can't sustain spending beyond their means but it may be perfectly reasonable for them to do so short term in the belief it will bring returns they wouldn't otherwise get. There are good arguments for and against but without seeing their business plan/ strategy and the calculations we'll just have to wait and see.

Excellent post - I think they anticipated investing far more on the team than £40m or so nett so far and we will see again in January that they are prepared to spend.
i can't imagine they won't want to get back in asap possible.
when they sell, they want to sell a team at the top, not one that is surviving. that is their stated aim. premier league victors within the first few years.

This is exactly what i mean.
In order for the club to reach it's maximum potential in terms of success and profitability, it needs to be playing CL football.
If FSG have to fund this in the interim, they should do so - they'll reap the rewards in the future.
