      According to Carragher's wiki page

He hit the headlines in January 2002 during an FA Cup tie against Arsenal, when he threw a coin back into the stands that had been tossed at him, Carragher earned a red card. He escaped an FA misconduct charge after apologising, but did receive a formal police warning about the incident.
I believe it was just a 3 match ban for violent conduct.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think as long as he was only after the ball not trying to hurt the kid then no biggie - they have apologised to each other, he should have his 3 game automatic ban and that should be that.

Cheers So something similar perhaps then will happen to Hazard I reckon.

I've only seen a **** grainy youtube video of this but in the initial struggle for the ball it looked liked Hazard pushed the ball boy over before trying to kick the ball from underneath him. The media are saying that the ball boy purposely fell on the ball.

Let's keep things in context, it was on (or just off) a football pitch.

It's not as if he's going around laying the boot into random kids in the street - *that* would be disgraceful.

Hazard has 'prodded' at the ball, caught the lad, but let's face it - he made a meal out of it.

The ball boy has dawdled, Hazard has gone to nudge him to get the ball from him and the ball boy (who has admitted to time wasting before the game) fell dramatically on the ball.

The kid falls over and tries to cover the ball completely, Hazard toe-pokes and (in my opinion) gets the ball with his toe and most likely his shin nudges the kid in the ribs who then acts like he's been shot with a 12-gauge.

Both should be ashamed - Hazard shouldn't have acted like that and the ballboy is 17 YEARS OLD and should no better. Both acted unprofessionally.

Any suggestions of assault are ****ing pathetic.

The more I saw of it last night the more of the kid I thought he got with the kick. He will have to be punished for it, but I think a lot of the reaction has been OTT. Talk of prosecuting him/giving him a ban spanning months. No.

That is quite clear IMO. While he shouldn't have done it, he clearly was not intending to injure the kid - he was very obviously (and foolishly) trying to kick the ball out of his grasp. He was silly but the hand-wringing over this - as if Hazard tried to maim him - is getting way out of hand.

It is a bit silly. But I think there will be an extension to the ban. He would have been sent off for the same on the pitch (Straight Red) But because this was to someone outside of the 22 players I think it will be more.
                            *Except Michael, who died.

Also the constant referring to him as "a boy" - he's 17 years old and therefore more than aware of what he was doing.
