Yeah but still the impact is only for 30 days. A good tournament no doubt but there is no scope for development.

But its easy access for the millions of arabs, asians, eastern europeans who wouldn't otherwise have access to football at that level.

If you ignore the corruption side of the argument then what I have said makes alot of sense im afraid.

        WOW

We had the best bid of them all. We had everything and we got knocked out at the first round.

I think Mr Cameron will have a few things to say to the bbc when it comes to reviewing the TV licence.

The problem is that the english only look at it from their own perspective and how it will bring them enjoyment for 30 days. Whereas people at Fifa and the world in general take the view that the winning bids should be those which have a lasting impact and help to develop the host country i.e South Africa

Russia and the Middle East have never hosted a World Cup before so its good that they have it for the first time and the main thing is that they are promising to use this world cup as a reason to develop the infrastructure around their countries for the sake of their citizens. Impact that will last a long long time.

What did the england bid offer? A good 30 day festival and alot of fun but nothing beyond that
          Spot on, to be fair.

My facebook is full of people giving it the usual 'oh its not fair' 'they all hate us' etc etc. Embarrassing really.

There's more to the world than England.

            Heads roll? Why, who?

The bid could not be bettered, nor improved, unless we pretended to be another country..

You seem to forget that the voting process is a bit like the that of the Eurovision Song Contest.
            Oh I don't know.

The fact is, whether that's the reason fifa chose them or not, the two selected host nations WILL offer that.

south africa what a legacy. Get ready russia and qatar. they will have empty stadiums, russian fans will be vocal i doubt any other country fans will go judging by what came from the media and fans regarding moscow 2008 champ legue final. qatar atmosphere will be void.

England might as well not bother. After qatar we will have india then china. They are power house countries. Then canada. Economic power lies with these countries. 2 votes, one from an englishman is bollocks. Just bollocks. bull****e too

Half as many votes as the Belgians.

                  Royaume-Uni null points.
                  Oh I don't know.

So two of the people who voted Holland/Belgium in round 1, changed their minds in round 2?

"10 minutes ago i thought Holland/Belgium was the best bid. But now, after that sip of Vodka, i'm seeing the situation very differently"

What? South Africa aside, its been Germany, Japan, France , U.S.A and Italy in the last 20 years. Hardly countries in need of development.

You dont think football in Japan and the US needed some development?

just seen the voting pattern. How did holland manage to lose votes in the 2nd round? At least spain stayed constant.

Well, those voters clearly wanted England out at the earliest opportunity. They were votes not for holland, but against England.
