    I dunno?

Maybe they pulled a FIFA and said they would, but they have not.

@DickinsonTimes This fuels rumored conspiracy: move WC to Jan, forcing winter break in Europe and establishing FIFA supremacy over clubs
      That would be ****.

The whole idea of a world cup, is that it's summer, everyone's loving the weather and it's party time.

      **** the winter.

Agreed, although January is so, so **** and depressing...it would certainly liven up a **** month.

It's shame it's 12 years away, as with the dross Hodgson is serving up I could do with watching some decent football for a change
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Dont worry, Hodgson will still be serving us up dross in 12 years

There will be uproar if it is held in january. not only will it effect the transfer window, domestic leagues there will also be uproar when players a going back to their clubs injured and end up missing the rest of the season. The players will be away for about 2 months.

Not a chance will any european leagues agree to this. The sponsors of the Prem, La liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and the CL will piss on this.

am glad to see that FA bloke saying he wont apply for the job as he wont work with people he doesnt trust

this sort of thing is missing in life these days.

all it would take to screw fifa would be the FA's of England, Spain, Germany, France & Italy to boycott any situation collectively. You could add the other western european nations & Brazil and they are pretty much screwed.

It's like any boycott situation though, everyone will wait for the others to start it - and nobody will.

                          Listening to 5live earlier.

Apparently England really screwed themselves over way back in 2000 for the 2006 world cup. There was already a gentlemans agreement that Germany would get the world cup. 7 of the then FIFA exe's agreed to go for Germany. England said they would not put in a bid againt Germany. Instead they did, they thought they could get the support of the rest of the members. The rest is history. This is still however a sour situation as those FIFA members are still around and they did not like England going back on thier word. This was from the guy who headed the 2006 bid IIRC. Englands FA have very little support in FIFA or europe

According to the Sunday Supplement (Sky) people involved in England's bid knew 13 of the 22 votes were buyable

That's pretty much right on the edge of what's just about ok. Australia is further ahead of the uk, i believe?

The only way Australia could host a world cup, would be to have games kicking off at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm local time - which would equate to 7am, 9am and 11am for the UK.
The rugby world cup was on at ok times in 2003 though!

They are completely corrupt, you'd have to be very naive to believe they're not. Maybe it'll all come out in the washing one day and those lauding FIFA for their brave and altruistic decisions will have their eyes opened to why so many people are fed up with them.
