That was some team Mourinho put out in the cup. Guess he doesn't subscribe to the notion most foreign managers have of the cups being basically meaningless.

I guess he wants to win everything in Spain as quick as possible then get the feck out of there

Probably covering his own arse. Barca look unstoppable in the league and the champions league is a coin toss at times. Can't see him staying longer then the year tbh and he wont want to leave winning nothing.

I think he'll stick it out at least for another year. He would not really like a 'botch' on his CV of not winning La liga.
If Jose left I do not think he would ever get the chance to go back to Spain to win the league.Definitely not with Barca nor would his ego allow him to try with a inferior team

christ this place can be a kindergarten, with all the small picking at posters, now for bringing in a relevant comparison in a thread that discusses to of the best players in the current generation with one of the great of a former generation.

It is interesting to see if Messi and Ronaldo can keep it up, no doubt it was easier 50 years ago than now, but which makes it all the more impressive IMO. I doubt they will keep it up in the same tempo in the next years, but perhaps this is telling as much about la liga defence as it does about the players?

Is this true? I vaguely remember hearing that we now live in a period of the most goals being scored (obviously there could have been all sorts of since the start of the PL, modern football, whatever caveats to that).

I tend to always think that comparing between eras is a bit pointless even if it can be entertaining.

agreed, it is very hard to compare era's of football or era's in general if you will, however it can be interesting thought to do so.

I could be wrong, but it normally strikes me that the goal ratio per game was higher back then (for the top strikers, not necessarily matches). For example Gerd Müller scored 398 in 453 matches for Bayern and 68 in 62 matches for Germany, which I think is almost impossible to achieve today and I don't think it's because the players are less talented.

Also if you look at the WC over time in general the topscorer scores fewer goals in modern football compared to the age of Puskas and co. (with the notable exception of Ronaldo in 2002).

he does have to win something as well this year, under fierce pressure and with Barca being red hot this year the league and Champs League gonna be tough.
