christ this place can be a kindergarten, with all the small picking at posters, now for bringing in a relevant comparison in a thread that discusses to of the best players in the current generation with one of the great of a former generation.
It is interesting to see if Messi and Ronaldo can keep it up, no doubt it was easier 50 years ago than now, but which makes it all the more impressive IMO. I doubt they will keep it up in the same tempo in the next years, but perhaps this is telling as much about la liga defence as it does about the players?Comment

I could be wrong, but it normally strikes me that the goal ratio per game was higher back then (for the top strikers, not necessarily matches). For example Gerd Müller scored 398 in 453 matches for Bayern and 68 in 62 matches for Germany, which I think is almost impossible to achieve today and I don't think it's because the players are less talented.
Also if you look at the WC over time in general the topscorer scores fewer goals in modern football compared to the age of Puskas and co. (with the notable exception of Ronaldo in 2002).Comment
