It don't matter anyhow. We seem to lack ambition on all levels.

We are playing catch up with the likes of City. Yet today they're linked with Edin Dzeko and we're linked with Carlton Cole. Says it all really. Mid table - to top 6 about best we can hope for in the years to come at this rate.
    Forwards.......

We need to be picking out players that the big named clubs aren't in for. The scouts really need to earn their crust. Seriously if you were a top footballer, would you want to come to Liverpool who will be lucky to be in the Europa League next year, have a ****e manager and want away players? Common FFS.

We are in a bad situation, Hodgson at the helm makes it a very bad situation. Short of us pulling something out of the bag, which i pray we can, but in January i don't see us a realistic destination for a world class player as such, decent and effective maybe, which i'll be happy with. In the summer with a good league finish we might be in a better position and hopefully with a new man in as well might be wee bit more enticing.
nah LFC is still a huge draw mate, we've had one and a half season of pure ****e but with the right manager and the owners giving the right backing we're not a million miles off (under Roy we clearly are!)

I'd expect the serious business to be done next summer not in Jan whilst I also expect Roy to be gone by then, I don't think or I hope this Jan window will really give us a true insight as to what level of backing we're going to be getting as simply put Jan is a bad time to be buying top players as they're usually only available at seriously inflated prices and currently only Citeh pay these numbers.

So in reality we've no idea what sort of backing there will or won't be we can only speculate, what threre is at Anfield is the opportunity to help us get back to at least challenging for the title and that will be a massive draw for a huge number of very talented footballers - whether we can afford to buy them or not is another matter and only something that could be answered by the owners

Talking about being realistic etc... sounds the sort of **** Roy would come out with!

Depends on the type of player. We are not currently going to attract Kaka or Messi or any young, impatient, mercenary flavour of the month. On the other hand a young slightly less well known player with big ambition and two brain cells will know that LFC is in a dip and with the financial fairplay rules, change of ownership and imminent change of manager does provide a platform to achieve.

Juventus were in Serie B a coule of years ago, but they were Juventus and even shorn of all their star players were clearly and obviously going to return to the top. The same is true at liverpool. We can attract players capable of getting us right back to the top but we will have to be a bit insightfull and get in ahead of the rush. Lukaku, Hazard etc are the sort of players along with those out of favour, Ben Arfa may be a bit of a coup. It's easy for us to get all doom and gloom in the current situation, but things realy can't get a lot worse. We dont have the choice of pickings that Real have but we don't have the cash for those sort of signings either. A decent manager with a great scouting network should get us a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.

It's all about having the right structure within the club and looking for the right players, hungry and want to come and prove themselves at L4 - we don't want players such as Tevez or Balotelli who clearly are all about the money - it's about being smart and building correctly

I just don't subscribe to DanPerkins doom and gloom of how we need to be realistic (almost Hodgson esq) with the right manager and network we'll be ok and NESV so far haven't even been able to demonstrate what we'll be doing in terms of signings.

Yup anyone expecting world class stars in January IMO is not being realisitic. Effective and decent is what we will get, and hopefully that is good enough to improve our first team and squad and push us up the table so we are in a better position to attract players in the summer.

Champs League Football is a massive draw for all the top players, without it it dramtically cuts our chances of getting the worlds best, we have the name LFC and the history but no champs league football, a ****e manager and wantaway players will be the major factors.

We can have all the money in the world but top players want to play at the highest level, i can't see any world class player coming to us in the hope that maybe in 2 or 3 years we might get into the champs league or maybe challenge domestically. Why would they when they can go to a club that will challenge on all fronts now rather than in a few years, and thats a maybe too with the way other clubs are advancing.

The rot has really set in at the club and there's no quick fix. I do be gutted watching Liverpool play, we are predictably unpredictable, we managed to get a few wins and you know we are gonna **** up, its inevitable. We play medicore football and are lucky to strings 5 passes together before panic mode sets in. Its like cancer to the eyes watching us play, its anti football. Lets hope it ends sooner rather than later and we can all get back to actually enjoyng our football because i'm ****ing sick of it, no way would i pay money to go watch a game at the moment, i'd rather spend my hard earned money on something more productive.

I fancy Dzeko to tear up the Premiership. Wish we could sign him.

I wonder if Roy has never heard of him either.

Didn't Roy make some comment last season about him. Something along the lines of if he's worth 30m then Zamora must be worth 40m

Bodgson is probably trying to sign Zamora
                            We come not to play.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak rang Edin Dzeko's representatives on New Year's eve to try and save the Wolfsburg striker's £30m move to Eastlands by offering him an improved £150,000 a week, still short of the £180,000 the player is demanding.
