But Hodgson is regarded within the FA as a safe pair of hands and of course fits the criteria of being English, which the FA is keen to fulfil if possible. Sunderland's Steve Bruce has also been earmarked as a possible contender.

It's a dead cert for me it'll be redknapp - he has said he wants it and capello is there till late 2012 - by which time, redknapp will feel he has done more than enough for spurs (getting them in champions league and having a bit of go all round) he'll be looking to move on - and with the media's obsession to appoint an english manager he is sadly the standout candidate (thats not a compliment to him though, just shows how **** the rest are)

for what it's worth....for me, the FA should be going all out to try and persuade wenger to take over
