Was excellent today, easily MOTM for me even before he got taken off.

Something I've noticed about our players is that none of them seem to take **** anymore, they're a lot stronger physically and psychologically.

The likes of Agger, Johnson, Gerrard and Enrique have always been strong physically but they're really standing up for themselves and one another, Lucas I've noticed it too he's getting there as well as is Wisdom who is already a monster , Sterling even. Shielding the ball, backing into players to win throw ins, goals kicks, protecting the game with a few minutes left to play etc they all make a difference over the course of 90 minutes.

They really back each other up but physically they're strong on the ball much stronger than they've ever been since they've played for this club.

It's kind of a pack mentality much like United have been down the years and look where that has got them and the success they've had.

      Glen Johnson injury update

      3rd Sep 2013 - Latest News

Liverpool have confirmed that Glen Johnson suffered a high ankle sprain during Sunday's 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Anfield.

The defender was forced to withdraw from the England squad after sustaining the injury.

After being examined by the club's medical staff at Melwood, Johnson is required to rest his ankle this week.

A further review will then take place to check stability and decide on further management.

Therefore, Liverpool have not put a timeframe on Johnson's return to fitness at this stage.

The "dreaded high ankle sprain" can take anywhere between 8 weeks and 6 months to recover from

Now that our Oilers young gun Taylor Hall has gone down with a high ankle sprain, I have been asked by many patients why he is out for the season. Are the Oilers medical staff just being protective of Taylor Hall or is this really a serious injury. Let’s take this opportunity to understand what the injury is, how long it takes to recover and what the various stages of Taylor Hall’s recovery will entail.

Unlike other ankle sprains, this injury is sustained to the tissue (ligaments) that connect the tibia and the fibula. These are the bones that make up the lower leg (the inner bone being the tibia or shin and the outer being the fibula).

With common ankle sprains “low ankle sprains” the ligaments that are most often injured are the ones on the outside of the ankle. These help to connect the fibula to the foot. These ligaments are injured when someone “rolls” their ankle over. Generally, recovery occurs over a period of 4 to 6 weeks. Most of us have sprained our ankle in this manner and as the swelling goes away, so does the pain. This isn’t to say that these ankle sprains aren’t serious, but in the majority of instances they resolve uneventfully – or at least we feel that they have.

In the high ankle sprain, there are several structures potentially damaged. These include ligaments that connect the tibia to the fibula known as the tibfib ligaments, as well as a tissue called the interosseous membrane. The severity of this injury often depends on how many of these structures are damaged. The recovery time frame varies from 8 weeks to 6 months and this is why the high ankle sprain is so dreaded.

With a high ankle sprain there is often a minimum degree of swelling but unfortunately there tends to be more and longer lasting pain. The pain that occurs with this type of sprain will usually occur when the ankle is turned outward and will be noticed above the ankle. This tendency and the fact that the ligaments are above the ankle lead to the term “high ankle sprain.” Most athletes are diagnosed with these injuries when their ankle sprain takes longer to recover than usual. Clinical diagnosis is based on pain location, palpation, observation and a test known as the “squeeze test.” In Taylor Hall’s case, an MRI would have clearly identified the injured ligament/s, but x-rays by a physician can also play a roll in diagnosis.

The common mechanism of injury is sport and most often they occur during forceful twisting outward of the ankle. This injury is more common in football, hockey, wrestling and soccer. In these sports the opportunity toCowboys Texans Football become tangled under another person is increased. The outward twisting motion of the ankle will cause the two bones to pull away from one another and tear the ligaments that connect them.
Another way to injure these ligaments is via hyperdorsiflexion – which means that the toes are forced toward the shin beyond their normal range. This will occur when an athlete has his foot planted and falls or is pushed forward. In either event the splaying (pulling apart) of the two bones causes the ligaments to tear.

It's a really wide ranging area. Can be two weeks to six months with surgery. We won't know for a few days or so.

Massive blow this for us. I hope it doesn't take this injury for some to realise just how good Johnson actually is for us.

Injuries are always a major concern for him though and I hoped he was over them after last season. Hopefully it's not too serious though and he's back before too long.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

We don't even know how long he'll be out for yet, he might even make the Swansea game. Let's just wait and see how it responds to a week's rest.

I know, just catching up on a weeks news.

Haven't went near new signings threads yet.

That's exactly what Sturridge had over the summer right? Depends on its seriousness I suppose. Being international week calling bull is probably correct.

I did mine badly a couple of years ago, within 24 hours it was black (im not) and about 4 times the size- took months to fully be able to use it for sport and still have problems with it now

Liverpool's Glen Johnson set to miss ALL of England's World Cup qualifiers with 10-week lay-off

Brendan Rodgers has been forced to stop Andrew Wisdom going out on loan as he looks to keep defenders at the club

Glen Johnson faces the agony of being out of the rest of England’s World Cup qualifiers – including any play-off, writes Alan Nixon of the Sunday People.

Liverpool fear their raiding right-back will be sidelined for around 10 weeks with the knee ligament injury he suffered against Manchester United last week.

Johnson’s bravery in a crunching tackle with Patrice Evra meant he missed the Moldova and Ukraine double header for England.

He was seen leaving Anfield on crutches after the United game and was wearing a medical boot.

The timescale means Johnson will miss the last two Group H games and could struggle to be fit if the Three Lions are forced into a play-off.

Johnson’s loss is also a blow for Brendan Rodgers who has had to stop England Under-21 skipper Andre Wisdom going out on loan. Wigan, Bolton and Blackburn were all keen to take the youngster, but now he has to stay at Anfield.

Kop chief Rodgers will be reshaping his defence shortly as new French defender Mamadou Sakho is tipped for a quick start, possibly at left-back.
