It's not been widely reported until now but Gray has launched legal proceedings against the NOTW as part of the phone hacking scandal.

That's more than likely the real reason he's gone. The sexism is a convenient excuse.

Gray didn't walk, he was pushed.

But I don't think Keys will go without some new incident. Sky will surely be keen to keep him on for a while at least, until the new 'expert' (I use the word loosely, indeed wrongly) has settled in. They won't want a brand new team to be parachuted in mid-season, without any preparation time.

Still, maybe Keys will feel a little less comfortable about his job prospects for next season, or this time next year.

The thing is the Massey comments were leaked by someone from within. I can't believe that Gray and Keys haven't said loads of things over the years 'in private' ie off air that would have got them into trouble or been controversial at least.

Assuming a reasonable level of intelligence and articulacy, experience in the game must give them something. But it doesn't give them everything, or even anything like enough.
