Getting him back seems to be been a waste of time.

I don't know what the mentality at the club is all about to be honest!
He is a better attacking player than henderson for example imo.
im sure he would also be a better RW than kuyt, too. this would mean we could better utilise dirk up front.
the way we try to put square pegs into round holes makes me really wonder who watches these players, then decides to try something a little avant garde
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

below average, mate...Originally posted by Craig_H View PostAfter all the bollocks Holloway & his chairman spouted about us while we were trying to sign Adam, I'd tell them to do one. They ****ed us about & then the final straw was actually selling us such an average player. The cunts.
we should have bought the DM that played along side adam, the guy was the power and ball winner, allowing adam time and space to fanny around. if yo only watched MOTD highlights you might of missed his massive contribution to that team, and how he was their real main man.removing all the weak links makes us stronger

Like Pogba? And if Man Utd were so progressive in playing their upcoming youngsters, they wouldn't be playing a Scholes and Giggs axis.Originally posted by reds123 View PostIf he plays for united or arsenal i'm sure he would get more playing time.

At what point - in the season so far - would you have risked the development of a young player, who has shown glimpses of magic but plenty of positional naivety to be amongst a mis-firing team that gets slaughtered? It certainly shows nothing about the 'mentality of our club', but does show that they are keen for him to build on his experience from the back end of last season, by getting him some game time at a Championship club, only to be called back to cover for the potential injury crisis we had in the middle of the park.
He may be more of a (potential) goal threat than Henderson, but I don't think he is a better midfielder than Henderson.

But surely sticking Shelvey out to right midfield, is sticking a square peg in a round hole?!Originally posted by baitman View Post

Well said. We haven't had the chance to blood youngsters as much as we'd liked over the last few years because we've hardly been in a position to.Originally posted by Muddled View PostLike Pogba? Kelly has done fine and will go on to be a good player. The last kid that we brought through the ranks was Insua and he received pelters in his second season.

It's up there with this 'play Johnson on the right of midfield' bollocks.

Why should we buy Caughan, he is a poor man's Lucas....I witnessed Adam's perfomance on Saturday and it as horrific, He has been shown up for what he is without Lucas, But if we had a Lucas next to him he would be a decent squad playerOriginally posted by baitman View Postbelow average, mate...

i think he has more running and crosses in him. service to the goal are is what we need. he will also follow up with a few goals.
these lads are [or should be] footballers 1st, the wingers or midfielders 2nd. confidence and control with the ball are the most important aspects.
all the pegs should almost fit all the holes. in his prime we could have played gerrard in every position.
unfortunately, some of the platers dont have the vision, confidence or ability to move around the pitch into other positions, let alone their preferred position

He has running in him, yes. I think it's one gear, but he has real clever movement and seems to know when to arrive in the box - but I would add, this is from a central position. I can't say I've seen anything from him to suggest he'd be any more successful than Henderson out wide, but with less crossing ability.
Footballers are often footballers first and many often change position as they develop, but they certainly learn their trade in one position and learn to do things well; I wouldn't want Lucas going out on the right, nor would I want Carroll going left midfield.
Gerrard is just a freak of nature and we've been lucky to have him.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
