Spearing never had that ball movement though, that gracefulness. Shelvey's got that. That's the word that sums him up pretty much, gracefulness. He'll become a diamond player.

He has a similar run to Gerrard, also the way he passes and crosses the ball. Strange similarities really.

Haha ...I don't think it's a comparable situation. Most people didn't rate Spearing, he'd been average-poor then had a run in the side when he was unfathomably excellent, but has since gone back to his level.

IMO Shelvey is on a gradual upward curve, he's always had this cocky swagger and the sort of ability on the ball that Spearing will never get close to.

I wasn't too convinced by him, but recently he has proved that he has genuine quality and I'm happy to say that I was wrong.

We know he has an eye for a goal too after his spell for Blackpool. I'd like to see him add that to his game with us and hopefully he will. He deserves to play most league games until the end of the season, we have nothing to lose.

Want to add though that he seems to play pretty non-descript when Gerrards in the team. Best performances (iirc) seem to come when he's given control and authority.
