Sooner or later they need to get rid of all of them and get people who've played the modern game. It's a sad state of affairs when I find myself agreeing with Ratboy and telling Hansen and Lawro to **** off.

Both players were playing the ball.

The ball ricocheted off Evans' foot on to Shelvey's foot. Both those feet were absolutely playing the ball. There were two other feet involved though, Shelvey's one was miles away, Evans' one was in aimed at Shelvey's ankle. It's all a ****ing sham

But rattling on about Evans' supposed good intentions provides a subtext which denigrates Shelvey, so justifying the decision. It's manipulative.

I see the BBC has also totally failed to cover the misbehaviour of Man United fans during and after the game. It looks like seven years of being banned by Ferguson has had the desired effect.

        Shelvey was right.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I didn't watch MOTD but I'm guessing that the suuarez pen claim was brushed off with a simple 'he goes down easily as always' and the Valencia one was replayed half a dozen times as they painstakingly looked to demonstrate sufficient contact. Anywhere near?

They claimed Evans got a toe to the ball and that Johnson made contact with Valencia. Also they were surprised Halsey didn't disallow Gerrard's goal as Lindegaard wasn't ready, Reina should have been booked for nearly saving the penalty, Johnson and Agger should both have been sent off for fouling each other near the halfway line and Ferguson should win the Nobel peace prize.

And let's not forget Ferdinand in all of this, quickly at the ref and no doubt telling him that Shelvey and Evans were both trying to win the ball and there was clearly no malice in the tackles and so neither one deserved to be sent off.
