On that I totally agree. In fact I'm afraid you've roused a persistent irritation I have about the nature of ignoring things we're not looking for (and even not aware of so can't be on the lookout for), something I've banged on about to the point of pissing off at least one poster on this very forum. So be careful.

Even so, while it's important to take account of that potential sampling bias, it's not impossible to overcome it or at least minimise it. There is also a counter-danger, that other events are dredged up in order to muddy the water.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Oh my ****, actually just heard a Manc in work:

"If you watch the replay, Shelvey's eyeing him up and goes in to try and injure him. He totally meant that."

BR really needs to have a word with Luis about this. It is purely his reputation that precedes him and refs just will not give him any of these tight decisions.

Psychiatry, EEG's and fMRI scans give us but a glimpse at what might be going on in someone's brain. Yet for all the medical and scientific expertise and technology at our disposal, it turns out a person's motivations can be read perfectly by someone who has played or even just watched professional football.

Fair play to Evans. I would have properly shat myself.
                      Oh I don't know.

Each decision in isolation you could make a claim that he got right. It was the fact that every decision went their way which was extraordinary, never mind the Van persie and scholes challenges.

                        We're cursed.

It's frowned upon by HR apparently.

It's bull**** and any normal person who sees this clip would have to agree.

And also because Evans squealed and rolled around.

Not forgetting of course those cunts Ferdinand and Giggs getting right in the ref's ear, as they always do.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Shelvey lunged (safely I might add) but I can see why the ref gave him the red considering the speed it happened.

Update. After watching it even more, I don't think either player was attempting anything dangerous but it looks like Evans also jumped before the tackle. Should have been a word with both.
