The problem is that he cannot really influence the game in the open play.
Few times in the first half he was on the right flank and hesitated just a few seconds to cross the ball which was enough to close off Carroll completely.
Nevertheless he had a decent game and certainly not the one that cost us the win.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Liverpool ace Dirk Kuyt is ready to commit his long-term future to the club by signing a new deal at Anfield.
Kuyt still has two years to run on his current contract, but he is poised to agree an extension.
The Holland international believes the future is bright for Liverpool and he wants to be a part of it.
"Liverpool is a club that should be playing for trophies and I guarantee that will happen soon," said Kuyt.
"With Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll arriving, we have become stronger and I have a strong suspicion that the club will reinforce again in the summer.
"This helps my belief that we will be playing for trophies again next season.
"I want to stay because the club is showing ambition, the team is getting stronger and my family and I absolutely love it here. I hope I will sign my contract very soon."

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

You'd expect that he's been told something with regards our transfer targets for the summer, only good noises coming out at the moment which makes a bloody change.

It’s also encouraging that he’s relishing the challenge rather than worry about the obvious competition he is likely to face.
Odd that he already seems to have started discussions, yet no word on Lucas yet. Get it sorted Ian.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

While I like Kuyt as a player and this is nothing personal, but is giving him a contract extension the right thing to do he'll be 31 in the summer, making him 33 when his current deal runs out. Should we not be looking at ways of managing the contracts of older players, shorter term contracts with automatic extensions if the player meets certain conditions (certain number of appearences etc). The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
