Mirpur is a town in the Pakistani state of Azad Kashmir. In the 1960s many Kashmiris (mainly from Mirpur) came over to the UK to work and live.

Hence, this batch of immigrants is often referred to as Mirpuris. It is a kind of piss take reference (made mainly by Paksiatnis not from Kashmir) but I have no idea why.

Boring I know. BTW I am not Mirpuri myself. My parents are from Kashmir, but not Mirpur.
