I don't think this was an issue of swearing on the pitch, as Nichols and his ilk argue. It was deliberately swearing to people watching tv at lunchtime. Could have Been in the tunnel or wherever. Definitely should have been a disrepute charge.

If you read my whole post and some previous ones in this thread then you will see that I mean every week and not only in some games. The players you mention aren't any angles but they don't act like spoilt kids in almost every game like Rooney do.Originally posted by Alex View PostBarton

Ballotelli? Barton? You must only watch a few games. Every time I see them there being petulant. Rooney is bad, but he is the most high profile so its highlighted more.Originally posted by Arn View PostIf you read my whole post and some previous ones in this thread then you will see that I mean every week and not only in some games. There names off the top of my head that I remember as always getting booked when I watched them.
Edit: Just checked, Tiote has 10 yellow cards and Brunt has 9. I know it doesnt mean there like Rooney, but it proves there not the cleanest.Last edited by Alex; 11-04-11, 10:20 AM.*Except Michael, who died.

I think Rooney's actions are highlighted more because he is the most high profile and most hated so it attracts more attention than the others. Usually, his behaviour is no different to the names flying about on here but its the fact that his swearing was actually down the camara and directly to the fans at home that is bang out of order! Iv heard sky have dropped his programmes and coke have also cancelled the sponsorship with him!!jc - after the live score and the best Soccer Blog online

That argument doesn't wash with me. People who say Scholes is just a crap tackler are wrong. He is a dirty cunt. Crap tackling is no excuse at the highest level. Reckless tackles happen, but a professional shouldn't be crap at tackling.Originally posted by elrichio86 View PostCould just mean they are crap tacklers, doesn't necessarily mean they're dirty*Except Michael, who died.

To me, dirty equates to deliberate.
Tiote and Brunt, playing in struggling teams will have to make / attempt more tackles than Rooney for example. This means they are more likely to commit fouls and get bookings. Doesn't make their fouls deliberate.
Scholes on the other hand is a dirty little **** who should be booked most weekends, as his fouling is more deliberate.
As for Rooney, I don't think he's a dirty player, just one who lets his temper get the better of him sometimes. Having a manager who seemingly indulges this behaviour doesn't help either.

For me the issue with Rooney isn't about how often he gets booked, or how he tackles the issue for me is the amount of time he gets in the referee's face and shouts and swears because he doesn't like a decision, it probably happens at least every other game. Yes there are some other dirty or cynical players, but they are probably punished for their actions more often than not. Rooney is ranting, moaning and swearing in an aggressive manner at the referee and hardly ever gets pulled up for it. In fairness he isn't the only one (John Terry amongst others is as bad), but as this thread is about Rooney, I'll not digress. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
