You can only be good in the time you play in. The game changes and may well improve in many ways. But if Pele or Maradona were playing today, then I see no reason why they wouldn't be as good as Messi, if not better.

On the contrary, Mourinho/Real destroyed the game and the red card (which was maybe a bit harsh but I've seen them given, studs up shin high) opened the game up and brought it to life. Thank **** for Messi.

I totally agree. It's a waste of time saying who's best, for all sorts of reasons. They're all great players and that's what's worth enjoying and celebrating.
