the problem with your reasoning danperkins is that the game lasts 90 mins so doing well for part of the game and losing still equals a loss.

playing the tactics madrid did (ignoring the ferocious atmosphere maureen likes to generate for these games) means you will pick up cards. So its a downside of that tactic just like every other tactic has plusses and minuses.

if you then though in the atmosphere that he likes to generate in these games then it is even more likely that a player will go off (from either side).

Just showed the sending off on SSN again, never in my life have i seen 7 or 8 players charge at the Ref all together....literally surrounding him. All over a little tackle on the cheating, horrible cunt that is Danny Alves.

how can anyone side with maureen and real here and moan about diving and the ref? His sides have always had their exceptional divers, drogba and robben being the worst, and as far as cheating and the ref goes, who remembers the goal that put barca out a few years ago against the chavs? Seemed like a rehearsed move involving one of his players holding the keeper in place whilst they took a corner/free kick, and other players distracting the ref. They tried the same move a few times I seem to recall.
