I know what you mean but I think his purpose is to take the spotlight and hence pressure off his players in the build-up and maybe to try to unsettle Barcelona in some way.

I'm not saying he doesn't like the attention but I don't think that's his primary motivation for stunts like this. His vanity is served best by being successful - winning is the means by which he satisfies his ego.

Point taken Neil , but I don't think the man is that complex.
He's a man who has purposely lived his managerial life on being unorthodox and this is just another example of him perpetuating that impression.
It's not clever, it won't affect Barca in the slightest and it will have absolutely no impact on the games themselves........the only effect it'll have is on the SSN breaking news bar, and by extension, his own twisted ego.
Actually, the only probable tangible effect it'll have will be on the Real Madrid hierarchy who will not tolerate such media-grabbing attention as a reflection on their club, especially from a manger they've already had a run-in with......and there's a pretty good chance he won't even be able to rely on trophy success to back it up.

Interesting point about the club hierarchy's possible reaction.

We're all complex though, especially ambitious egomaniacs like Mourinho.

I think it could affect Barca actually if only by distracting the players by virtue of the fact it's not what normally happens in the run-up to a game with Madrid. Of course Guardiola will do what he can to insulate them from everything, including Mourinho's messing around, so it may not have any real impact.
