20% of all pens that Webb has given in the prem' have been to Utd.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I noticed Fergie didn't blame him, but had a go at one if his assistants instead

FWIW, from a Man Utd fan I admit, I thought the two decisions were correct.

Evra beat Sturridge to the ball and was kicked - no question a penalty.

The second one not so cut and dried, but Wellbeck bought the poor challenge with his body feint, and is in some way entitled to go over Ivanovic once the defender has made his mistake.

The biggest one I've heard criticism for Webb about was Carrick at OT against Villa a couple of years ago. Maybe a soft decision, but given the pace the tackle was made at, the refs position etc. you should be able to see how the ref could give a pen without automatically assuming he's in Utds pocket.

Why didn't he send Ivanovic off for the free kick on Wellbeck in the first 10mins? That was a blatant foul by the last man... Webb is not biased.

Welbeck clearly threw his leg out a la Pires - it is absolutely blatant. Except Frenchman Pires was slaughtered for it while English Man United player Welbeck is given a free pass. It's a joke.

Are you really a United fan, Scotsdave? I welcome normal, non-WUM fans of other clubs. We've had more than our fair share of idiots unfortunately.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The Wellbeck pen should never have been given, the first one I think to be fair there's a little more in it.

With the Ivanovic foul it would have been harsh to send him off as he was heading away from goal and a man was on the cover if I remember correctly.

Sorry but Webb in almost every Man Utd game has some sort of dodgy call that more often or not goes in favour of Man Utd, he's not a good ref and it bewilders me the amount of times he seems to end up officiating a big United game.

Ivanovic was half on arse when he made contact. He slipped.
                Oh I don't know.

When you consider that he ref's the big games more than most other referees. I'm not so surprised at this. Man Utd have been involved at the top for a while. Id like too see the other stat's on penalties for other teams.

You're right, but he refs mostly United games . He's their 12th man.

If he refs mostly Man Utd games, then he is mostly going to give Man Utd penalties. I don't buy this whole 12th man thing.

Although he did get it wrong at the weekend, and about 5 other occasions I can think of before. Come to think of it, I don't know why he is so highly regarded.

If he refs most of United's games, then by definition he is on the pitch for most of United's games. He is their 12th man.

He might as well just boot it into the net.

First - I am not a Wum, I'm not here to inflame opinion or other such ****e...

On the foul; I don't think the ball was running that wide and he was past Ivanovic for sure - Wellbeck is rapid and there was now way anyone else was getting back... I don't think Ivanovic intentionally tripped him but he did foul him - whether it denied a goal scoring opportunity is up for debate tbf... I just think it points to referees calling what they think they've seen - I just don't buy the "x favours [NotMyTeam] argument." it's humans making decisions on things they see while at least 15 of the other 22 humans involved try and con him.

On the 2nd pen. We can disagree on the outcome - but in terms of the play leading to it... Wellbeck dummies his first touch, letting it roll across him - Ivanovic anticipates the ball being within touching distance and dives in, Wellbeck, getting exactly what he wanted, controls the ball around Ivanovic and draws what is a foul ANYWHERE else on the pitch. It's a penalty, very soft, but a penalty. If you want an instance where someone has actively stretched his leg out to simulate contact, check out Johnson for City at the weekend - for me the instances are totally different.

Johnson wasn't fouled, Wellbeck was imo.

Never said you were a WUM, just said we've had loads of them - in fact we've never had a straight-up United fan on here. As I said, it would be welcomed.

As shaggy says - we've had loads of people from different clubs coming here just to cause trouble - which means when we get a genuine fan of another club - people act suspicious towards them....however me personally, welcome any genuine posters from other clubs....like the stokie who was posting the other day etc

Sadly, you will get some stick tho so don't take it personally - it's to be expected
