£20M for Downing vs £23M for Mata, I know who I'd choose.

(Mata, in case that wasn't clear).

Still, that article is a joke.

That's more thought than went into the Bebe deal

I think the thought there was more along the lines of corruption and fraud, but I have no evidence.

FSG will also factor in wages to get their "value" of the players they target

Barcelona have decided to reactivate the signings of Juan Mata Rossi and in view of the operation Alexis Sanchez has stalled. Guardiola believes that both parts meet the outline of what you are looking for and has given its approval if the transfers are more feasible than the Chilean.

Barca do not want the signing of Alexis becomes a soap opera or the Udinese ask more money for the striker. Despite the good deal that runs from Manchester City, who is willing to pay 40 million euros, Barca know that Alexis told that just wants to play in the club, and plays with that trick.

However, after agreeing to pay 28 million euros in addition to limbo, has encountered the refusal of the canary into currency and its reluctance to play in Italy. Barca are trying to convince him but believes the situation may become entrenched.

For these reasons, has decided to reactivate the possibility of signing Giuseppe Rossi, player that had already reached an agreement. However, differences were noticeable with Villarreal, Castellón because they refuse to sell below 30 million. However, they have the advantage that limbo would welcome another play in the yellow submarine.

                    @ that translation.

Ok from my limited Spanish I took it to roughly mean:

It says that the Alexis Sanchez deal is on the rocks because Barca won't match City's offer, but Sanchez only wants to move to Barca.

Also Jeffren (the makeweight in the deal) is refusing to play in Italy so negotiations have stalled right now.

No real mention of Mata there at all (just his name once). It talks more about Rossi as the fall back option should the Sanchez deal collapse.

I don't think Barca's interest in Mata is all that serious, I think they are just trying to get Udinese to accept their offer for Sanchez personally.

Apologies if this has been posted before:

Juan Mata 'will listen to Liverpool transfer offer', says agent.

Liverpool target Juan Manuel Mata will 'listen to all offers' after the European Under-21 Championships, according to his dad.

The Valencia winger is currently on international duty with Spain's youngsters in Denmark, and Barcelona are the latest club to have expressed an interest in the £20million-rated midfielder.

But the player's father and agent, Juan Snr, has said all transfer talks will be put on hold until after his son's Euro participation in Scandinavia.

'Until after the Euro, we won't listen to anybody. After that, we're willing to listen to all offers we receive,' said Mata.

'Interest Barcelona? From next Monday on, we'll analyze what is the best option for the future.'

The Reds held talks with Mata's representatives some time ago, but Valencia were adamant that they would not sell.

Now though, it appears their hand may be forced after Mata's agent's recent comments, and an auction will probably ensue for the 23-year-old's services.

He'll end up going for £25 million plus i reckon. Ridiculous really, but when you look at what Henderson, Young and Jones are going for its a bargain IMO.

I'm really hopeful that Spain's big two will let this guy move abroad like they did when Xabi arrived. Hopefully, Barca are too involved with Sanchez and Fabregas and Madrid don't seem to be linked.

I would jizz in my pants if we signed this guy. I posted in the Downing thread yesterday about the risks of signing players from other leagues and the money that can be wasted and I still believe that to be the case, but this guy - it's not a risk - he's that good.
