Craig dont be a ****ing stupidOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostThey've qualified for the CL every year for god knows how long, which is more than can be said for us. I'd rather take winning nothing but almost guaranteed CL football every season, than winning nothing and not being in it. Wouldnt you?
Of course it's prudent to wait before judging, but we'd be ****ing robots if we just didnt have ANY opinion or reaction to signings. Whether it's gut feeling, instinct, or whatever, every single normal human being has a reaction or an opinion, with regard to signings. Rightly or wrongly perhaps, but still an opinion.
And i'm sure you have an opinion too, even if you try to conceal it or just tailor it to suit whatever Kenny's doing, if that is indeed what you're doing.
And if your train of thought is to reserve judgement, then that's cool. But you're not really doing that, you're forming a judgement too, just a postive one, based on the theory that Kenny cant possibly have got something wrong. I hope it proves to be the case, i really do.
Being patient and reserving judgement is deciding Kenny can do no wrong
Of course it is
I like Mata from what I've seen I think hes a good player
The argument seems to be we should have bought him instead of Downing, well despite the fact I'm not a big fan of Downing he is a genuine winger which imo Mata isnt
As I've said we dont know what system we are playing so thats why I'm prepared to wait and see what the current signings do before crying over players that may or may not fit that system
As I said people like your good self waxed lyrical about Cole coming and hes been nothing short of a complete ****ing disaster.
I'm not saying you know nothing or your opinion counts for **** but just like Kenny & myself, you are mortal and can and will get things wrongLast edited by Lecter; 29-07-11, 10:47 AM.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Arn you are talking absolute rubbishOriginally posted by Arn View PostBuying British the way Kenny done have so far never worked in the PL. Aston Villa tried it and failed. Didn't even get close to a CL place even that they had players like Young and Downing.
I don't think Kenny know the foreign market well enough to buy a lot of foreigners. He know the British market, that is why he is buying British IMO.
I don't think he for example know what type of player Mata is well enough to spend £15m or something like that on him but he knew what kind of player Downing is and that is why he spent £20m on him.
Nothing to do who of them is the better player. Kenny simply don't know the foreign market well enough yet.
There was an article in one of the papers when Kenny was appointed and I think it was Gary Lineker saying that his knowledge of players and systems(throughout the world) was encyclopedicBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I trust Kenny but if someone asked me if we spent the money we had on the right players then I would say no but that is just my opinion.
I don't think buying British have any chance at all to work. You need to mix it up. That is again my opinion.
We have signed expensive players that didn't play in a pass and move system. Carroll didn't do that, Henderson didn't do that, Downing didn't do that.
We simply don't have a clue if they will fit into a pass and move system because they have never played in one. Our new players must learn a new way to play football. From the old British way to the pass and move way Kenny will most probably use. That will take time and we don't have a clue if it will work or not.
Kenny made a big gamble signing players that isn't used to play his system. Will it work or not? Time will tell.Stop the cyberhate

I've never said Kenny or myself were infallibleOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostOf course the Cole thing didnt work out and i was wrong thinking that he was a great signing. Along with tonnes of others.
But at least you're pointing that yourself and Kenny can get things wrong - there's progress
I've stated throughout the last few posts I'm prepared to wait and see what happens before deciding on some players I havent rated previously
Unfortunately some people have already prejudged these players and my example of Cole (and in my case thinking Morientes would be great & Torres ****) shows exactly what a fools game that can beBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Do you think that HE considers them to be players that arent suitable for his system? He clearly doesnt, he wouldnt have bought them otherwise.Originally posted by Arn View PostI trust Kenny but if someone asked me if we spent the money we had on the right players then I would say no but that is just my opinion.

I dont think any of our signings are poor or average players, they're all good. But i dont think any of them are 'difference-makers' and i think that's what we lack more than anything. I would hope to be proven wrong by them.

I take those points on board Lec. But your misjudging Morientes and Torres are two examples, i'm sure you've had opinions on players before, which turned out to be correct, even if they were formed before said players had pulled on a red shirt. It can be a fools game. And at other times, our judgements will have proven to be correct too.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI've never said Kenny or myself were infallible

Did Barnes play in a pass and move system? Did Beardsley? Aldridge? Houghton?
I'd also suggest that people are getting a little too bogged down with "pass and move"
I think thats the general idea of our play but I'm sure Kenny has already gone on about Carroll giving us options in our play

The thing is Craig when Torres and Morientes came in we pretty much knew what system etc.. we were going to be playingOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostI take those points on board Lec. I've quite literally no idea what system Kenny is going to use with these 3 signings and despite any reservations I might have about some or all of the players I must say I'm intriguedBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I think he bought them because he believe they are good enough to be able to change from the British way to the pass and move way. No one know how good they will be in a pass and move system because as I said, they never played in one. Kenny clearly bought them because they are great creating chances and they are good players but as I said, that was in a different system.
The teams was built around them and now they will most probably play in a system that isn't built around them.
Not even Kenny know if it will work or not. I think it will take time and that we won't get that great start of the season but we will be stronger after a few months when players like Downing, Carroll and Henderson know the system better and get used to play in a pass and move system.Stop the cyberhate

How many of them came from pass and move sides?Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

My guess is tha he and Kenny has outlined a clear transfer strategy on what they exactly need to play a certain type of football. No matter what country the player comes from. Than of course they have to adjust somewhat to certain rules like how many domestic players you must have in your squad etc.Originally posted by PC Plod View Post& Comoli?
It's naive to think that Kenny sits by himself and chooses transfer targets that he only knows of. Todays football demands a lot of thought and scouting before an actual offer is made. That doesn't mean that the players recruited are good enough but the management believes so and risk getting the sack if their strategy fails."Justice has been done."

Thing is Arn you never know if any footballer is going to fit in when they move to a new club, it's about having the intelligence and ability to listen and understand instructions - hopefully we've bought in players that can do this and get to grips with what Kenny wants out of them.Originally posted by Arn View PostI trust Kenny but if someone asked me if we spent the money we had on the right players then I would say no but that is just my opinion.

Every player you bring in is a potential gamble, I'd probably say Kenny has played it relatively safe so far with the signings and we probably needed this as the squad was pretty poor and I think we've improved it considerably so far - the next step will be to bring in that player or 2 that are a little bit special a la Suarez but for them to be effective you need the structure to allow them to do it.
