So basically if he has to guess on City he is also guessing on the rest. I could do that.

I'm afraid we are'nt considered to be a club that spends the sort of money that in these top greedy players minds almost guarantees titles/trophies during a players contract at said club.
We have to prove ourselves again. You only have to listen at the way some of these tarts describe Chelsea ffs, like they are in Madrids league of greatness or something!
Makes me sick.
Does'nt stop us being an attractive proposition for some top players though, but the Aguero's of the world imho, are at present out of reach.

I don't think it's anywhere near that simple.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostI'm afraid we are'nt considered to be a club that spends the sort of money that in these top greedy players minds almost guarantees titles/trophies during a players contract at said club.

Of course there will be some who are only interested in the money and the more the better. But there are plenty for whom it's about glory/success, etc. They're all multimillionaires at that level - what makes one club better than another is the chance to win trophies etc.
Clubs like Man City and Chelsea and Real Madrid can all offer that PLUS massive wages. But look at who Man City managed to attract when they could only offer the latter? Jo, Santa Cruz, Milner, Adebayor...
EDIT: B*ll*cks. Only just noticed your final sentence.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

This summers transfer window is the key to getting back to the top. Suarez and Carroll was a good start but FSG must continue to splash the cash and sign players even if they cost £40m and by that way show that they want to win almost whatever the cost. Winning is more important than money.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostI'm afraid we are'nt considered to be a club that spends the sort of money that in these top greedy players minds almost guarantees titles/trophies during a players contract at said club.

It is key that FSG show that we are prepared to pay £40m or maybe even more for a player. That they show that they want to be number one and won't be happy with a third or fourth place finish.
The only way they can show that is to splash the cash big time this summer. I think they are clever enough to know that.
If we can convince a player like Aguero to join us then other top class players will be more easily convinced to join us. Miss out on top class players because of money then we will never get back to the top.
Miss out on top class players because they turned us down is a different thing. Then we have at least showed that money won't be a problem and winning is more important than money.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

I personally think you are being EXTREMELY unrealistic in your demandsOriginally posted by Arn View PostThis summers transfer window is the key to getting back to the top. FSG will play within the FFPR and rightly soLast edited by Lecter; 24-05-11, 02:41 PM.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Plus in our case part of the problem is scale. If we just needed strength up front then £40 million on Aguero would be acceptable. If we just needed a winger then £40m on Sanchez would make sense. Read Contreau (sp) for Left back
When you need a left back, defensive midfielder, 2 wide players, a creative midfielder and a centreback (and possibly a 3rd choice striker) and you need them now then you're never really going to be in the race for a £40 million pound forward. To much needs done and even an £80million budget is cutting it fineA lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.
