True mate i'll give ya that, and i'd be delighted if we signed Aguero don't get me wrong but i am of the opinion that there will be certain players out there that will want to play champs league football and it will be a major sticking point.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostTo be fair dan, you were convinced the same of Suarez.
Maybe Aguero is one of those players, maybe he isn't but IMO he'll go to Chelsea or Man City if he is going anywhere in England.

One season though dude, a player of 23/24 can surely do without CL footie for one season?
- Need to look at the bigger picture and all that.
Not talking bout Aguero specifically, already said i'd be stunned if we got him, but at the same time i don't think you can rule out signing world class talent because we're not in the Champions League.
If we continue to miss out in the years to come then that's obviously different.

As i said at the time regarding Suarez, it all depends on the player's mentality. If he's a bit of a bigtime Charlie and not intelligent enough to think for himself and see the bigger picture, then we aint getting that player right now.Originally posted by danperkins View PostTrue mate i'll give ya that, and i'd be delighted if we signed Aguero don't get me wrong but i am of the opinion that there will be certain players out there that will want to play champs league football and it will be a major sticking point.

If he's a bit brighter, looks at things from a distance and analyses his own situation re his age and that of the club, like Luis Suarez, he'd come to us.
I think Aguero is the latter kind, personally. When he came to Europe, he could've gone to bigger clubs than Atletico - but he chose them, despite them not challenging for honours. The 3 seasons before he joined them, they had finished: 7th, 11th and 10th.
Since he's been there, they've finished: 7th, 4th, 4th and 9th. So he knew he wasnt joining a club in the CL back then, when he could've done if he'd insisted on it. And he's seen them turn into a CL club since he joined, albeit dropping out of the running last season. So he's seen for himself how a club which he joined, that wasnt in the CL, can grow and develop, to meet his ambitions.
All the evidence available, suggests to me that he is one who can see the bigger picture and isnt just out for everything 'first, fast, now'

i hear ya mate, and it doesn't apply to every top player but there will be targets IMO that will give us a width birth because of lack of champs league footie.

All valid points and if he is the type of player/person that can see that bigger picture and has the type of mentality and mindset then we would very much want him at the club, he would be a fantastic coup.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostAs i said at the time regarding Suarez, it all depends on the player's mentality. Imagine him as a player on fifa or PES - his hair drops his overall ability by 15, in my book.
