    Love to see us sign him but this always happens, a top name becomes available which we would love to sign only to see him go to another team.

    Guess it comes down to the owners really, how much are they willing to spend to see the club get back to the big time.

      Well we signed Suarez, so have faith. If our interest is genuine who knows, we're in with a chance.

            As mentioned by others there is a big question mark over the formation we would play if we did sign him, I'm not convinced it would be a good idea, but I think we could afford it:-

            45m euro's = £39m

            Lets say we sold the following players:-

            Aquilani (15m euros = £13m) Milan/Juventus
            Cole £6m to QPR or Spurs
            Jovanovic = £3m?
            Ngog = £6m?
            Poulsen = £3m back to Denmark?

            Selling those 5 would raise £31m of the £39m. Lets say FSG give us an additional £40m to spend in the summer we would have £32m left to spend and we would have reduced our wage bill - I can't see Aguero earning more than those 4/5 COMBINED! especially considering Cole is on £90k a week!

            Also, Cole, Jovanovic, Ngog and Poulsen have combined played less league minutes that Reina this season...

              Not **** at all.

              On a different note, doesn't the babbefish translated article above hint at a clause triggering amount?

                Yes, it's 45m euros which is £39m...but Atletico have to agree to the transfer or you have to add tax on top, which they probably would to stop him signing for real madrid.

                  So... if Athletico agree they can forego the law and just take cash in hand?

The only way that might not be the case is if any chance of Chelsea signing him is for some reason gone beyond all doubt.
                    Did you ever play as Liverpool on PES?

                    Did you enjoy it?

                    Would you like to join us because your mates are here even though we will pay a quarter of the wages at Chelsea or Man City?

                    What's your favourite colour?

                    If left in a room with a claw hammer and Arn, would you rearrange his grey matter?

                        Our hopes of signing Augero went when we spent £35m on Carroll.

                        Carroll is sn old fashioned striker, a real power house player. He's not a silky target man like Ibra or Berba, the type of player who you could see linking up with a striker either side of them in a 433.
                        Forwards.......

                          The state of Torres's coupon at the minute is hardly an advert for the joys of playing at the plastics.

                                sign him for 'only' 30-40m ish and pay him 150k a week on a 5 year deal. After 3 years it would hace cost us £65 million and sure we cold flog him to real madrid for that and recoup our money.

                                Its not rocket surgery.
