The owners have always said it's about value, not that they were on a small budget.

The player represents value since that's the going rate for a player of such quality and we would get the same amount back anyway (plus inflation) by the time he's 27-28. It's almost like getting a world class player on loan for 5 years for free. So imo the price isn't the issue.

the reality of actually being able to get my teeth anywhere close to my penis was a little over optimistic on my part. I'd love to say it was my lack of flexibility that was the problem.......

Off topic, but Chris Sutton was brilliant for norwich and Blackburn, though he was a flop at Chelsea - some moves don't work out for players.

When Sutton went to Celtic they were a very good team, I remember they knocked LFC out of the UEFA cup and gave decent accounts of themselves in the CL, good at home but poor away.

Hardly the most reliable of sources, however if Sergio wants to come to Anfield looks like he is going to have to slum it.

LIVERPOOL OUT OF £30M RACE FOR SERGIO AGUERO

LIVERPOOL have ended their interest in £30million Sergio Aguero because of the Argentine ace’s huge wage demands.

And that means Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham could go head-to-head in a major summer transfer scrap for the Atletico Madrid striker, 23.

Although Liverpool’s American owners are willing to pay the £30m fee – which triggers a clause forcing the Spanish club to sell their prize asset – Sergio Aguero’s £110,000-a-week wage is considered too much.

That’s more than Anfield highest-earner Steven Gerrard picks up.

And that leaves City, Chelsea and Spurs at the head of the Premier League queue chasing one of Europe’s hottest properties.

Aguero capped 25 times by his country, has smashed 71 goals in 173 league games for Atletico.

But City boss Roberto Mancini will only swoop if Carlos Tevez leaves Eastlands, while Chelsea must sell Didier Drogba and Nikolas Anelka to make room for him.

Spurs, though, are desperate to boost their attack after failing to qualify for the Champions League and plan a second bid for Aguero.

Harry Redknapp failed to lure the hitman in January.

                      A. Spurs have a far stricter wage structure than us.
                      B. Gerrard is on at least 110k a week isn't he?

I know it's not like the Daily Star to be so wide of the mark...
For some reason I think we are going to buy him. I haven't felt so strangely confident in a signing since the summer of McAteer and Collymore.

Gerrard is on something like £130k a week.

The buy-out clause is only in effect between Spanish clubs. Clubs from other countries can't use it.

The journalist didn't even bother to find that out.

Must be bollocks surely, knocking back a player like Aguero for 110,000 a week would imo be madness, it's what these sort of players get, pay it or sign lesser players, and lesser quality players usually win you less trophies.

Really hope it's bollocks, as i supect it is.

The buy-out clause is €40m plus VAT.
No buy-out clause exist if a foreign club make a bid. It only exist if another Spanish club make a bid.
