Yes, still can't understand why he didn't. Benitez was great in Europe but got that one very wrong.

Aye. He terrorrised defences that year. Only thing I can think of was the fouls he gave away cos of ridiculous refereeing in Europe.
      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Aye they do. Embarassing. Masher was our best player that day.

Mascher marked Kaka out of the game but IIRC he was subbed with about 20 or so mins left.

Aye, we needed to catch up by that point, but I'd have sacrificed someone else.

Still, it was nowhere near as ludicrous as Houllier taking Hamann off against Leverkusen in the quartes that time.

That was a truly shocking call by Houllier.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think that CL final was the first time Rafa had ever tried Gerrard in the hole, and as a consequence, we couldnt play 2 strikers, and Rafa opted for Dirk.

Somehow managed to reinvent himself as a hardworking right midfielder, and being within 50 foot of Kenny gives him super shooty powers. I always wondered what would have happened in the second CL final against Milan if we had some sort of goal threat up front.

At least you are consistant anyway with your crap...
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

                          No Real move for Aguero

Atletico Madrid general manager Miguel Angel Gil Marin has said star striker Sergio Aguero will not be heading for arch rivals Real Madrid.

Argentine international Aguero, 22, has openly declared his desire to leave Atletico and hinted his destination could be Spanish capital neighbours Real.

But Atletico are standing firm and insist the player's buy-out clause of €45million (£39m) was the asking place for everyone - apart from Real Madrid.

"He (Aguero) is not going to go to Real Madrid," Gil Marin said in El Larguero.

"I called (Real president) Florentino (Perez) to ask him if we could maintain this commitment to not being hostile and he agreed.

"Either a club, that is not Real Madrid, comes in and puts €45m on the table or he stays at Atletico Madrid. We don't want to negotiate with anyone."

English trio Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been linked with Aguero, but so far Juventus are the only side to officially register their interest.

"Atletico Madrid don't have any offers, only a fax from Juventus saying they want to negotiate," Gil Marin said.

"It is a letter saying they are keen to negotiate, but Atletico don't want to negotiate."

Atletico want an end to the saga within the next fortnight and have set a 15th June deadline to conclude any deal.

"We want a decision before 15th June because it is a decision that has huge implications on our sporting plan," Gil Marin added.

Why do football clubs still fax each other FFS?

I have a fax machine. What's wrong with faxing?
Though saying that, about 4 months back I went into comet looking for a new ink thingy for it.
Everything in comet was different from the last time I had been there, thankfully I found what I was after as I felt it would almost be embarrassing asking for a fax ink roll. The world seems to have moved on.
