I don't know why you're so hung up about the cigar incident?! It doesn't affect you. It clearly bothers you quite a lot. People do stupid things. Sometimes stupid things result in dire consequences and fortunately usually they don't.

It doesnt bother me at all. I just find the notion of it being dismissed as 'just one of those stupid things we all do' to be utterly idiotic. I'm sorry, but i've never done that to anyone and i shouldnt think many people have. You're trying to portray it as something not especially out of the ordinary, when it clearly is.

If that's the kind of thing you do and something you dont consider to be anything particularly bad, then i would suggest that you have some serious issues.

I dont think acknowledgement that someone is stupid and 'does stupid things' negates the seriousness of cunty actions and makes them any less cunty. Footballer or not, stupid or otherwise, someone who acts like a cunt is, generally speaking, a cunt.

It doesn't affect me, I'm not going to judge anybody. There are Liverpool players past and present that are hardly model citizens, but as long as they put their heart and soul into playing football I don't care really. We don't pay to judge people, we pay to watch football. I don't need to like a footballer to appreciate what he contributes to the team. I'd rather not know about a footballer's personal life because I'm not interested, it has no relevance. As long as there's harmony in the squad and the team play well then that's good enough for me.

Not guilty of affray having thrown a couple of punches

Barton:
Stubbed a cigar out in a teammate's eye
Guilty of common assault and affray which included punching one person 20 times
Guilty of assault / ABH against another teammate
Cleared of assault and criminal damage


No comparison, and that's before you even consider the gulf in quality and the rest of Barton's problems.
