Just because someone is entitled to an opinion doesn't mean that opinion or the way they express it is right.
All I said was that people harping on about him being scum in the press is not helpful to anyone. Can you honestly say that's actually a good and necessary thing?
The 'good reason for printing something damaging' in this context is because someone is writing about their opinion, which is what the press do all of the time. This 'good reason' stuff is quite a strange concept in a society with a free press, is it not?

As I have said, I don't think good and necessary come in to it. That is, and never has been a moral basis behind public comment. As I also said, they aren't damaging to anything other than his reputation, which I don't think poses public risk etc.
