Just watched this compilation again and now hoping he is given a chance. Some of the passing here is simply sublime and perfect for Rodgers system. I've always been a fan of Aquilani. I really hope he plays for us.

It's telling that his highlights package centres around three opponents.

I like him though, he plays with his head up and certainly has ability. Watching that clip shows how well he linked up with Gerrard and if he wanted to stay, I think he'd fit in well.

I've resigned myself to that fact that he is a good player who isn't suitable for us. I'd like a player with many of his attributes to be signed though.

The shame is that his head doesn't seem to be in it.

There's no doubt he has a certain amount of talent, just seems to dislike England.

Lets face it, compare Aquilani to Adam, Henderson or Spearing and there is such a noticeable difference in quality.

This was even obvious in preseason last year.

He's a good player. I think he'd make a difference if you could keep him fit for 25 games per season.

However, as Mr Gibbo says below:

He doesn't want to be in England. He wants to be in Italy, his nut isn't in it and he won't play another competitive game for us again. Move on. He's gone.

I met him in Carra's restaurant last August. He was really sound and posed for photos with my two boys.

I think this will be his year. He has tried going back to Italy but no club has really shown any serious desire to buy him which I think must hurt him.

Rodgers will have spoken to him and praised his technical ability and hopefully made him feel wanted. I think he will come out and really try to establish himself this year, he's got the right type of coach behind him now

He has always seemed like he's got all the attributes to be the next Pirlo, apart from obviously fitness and maybe the mentality. It's quite frustrating, I loved watching him play the few times he did for us.

And we will all live happily ever after, the end.
