And if push really came to shove (I hope it doesn't) then I'd ship Meireles out before Aqua-Man.
That's probably why we did loan him out. Too classy for Hodgson, best go for someone like Poulson instead.

"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

      Probably true
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Liverpool first-team coach Steve Clarke hails Charlie Adam & Alberto Aquilani combination against Malaysia

Reds' coach is happy with the partnership of the duo after the victory over the Asian nation, and believes that the returning Italian can challenge for a spot in the first-team.

Steve Clarke has hailed the performances of Charlie Adam and Alberto Aquilani during the Reds' recent friendly against Malaysia.

Kenny Dalglish's side took on the Asian XI at Kuala Lumpur as part of their pre-season tour of the continent, and came out of the encounter with a 6-3 victory.

Adam opened his goalscoring account for the Merseyside club, while Aquilani put in a strong performance on the day.

The Italian had a difficult time when he first arrived at Anfield, which was during Rafael Benitez's era. But after Roy Hodgson's appointment, he was packed away on a season-long loan to Juventus.

However, the club could not come to an agreement with Juve concerning a permanent move for the midfielder, so he has returned to ply his trade under current boss Dalglish.

Now Clarke believes that the 27-year-old has what it takes to challenge for a place in the first-team. He said on the club's official website: "The partnership of Adam and Aquilani was good.

"They are showing real promise. We have always known how good a player he [Aquilani] is.

"He has the quality to stay on and fight for his place in the first team.

"The tour has helped the players settle in and bond with each other.

"The matches here have been challenging, but they should brace themselves for even tougher training when we get back home."

Watched the boy play in Malaysia Saturday night, he was class, not just with the ball but off the ball as well with his movement ... he is worth keeping for this season for sure.

Few stories City will go after Aquilani if bid for Nasri fails, I still fully expect Arsenal to be in with a bid before the window closes.

They were linked a month or so ago and I thought it was great news as it would bump the price up or maybe get us a decent player in exchange. Being the fickle fan that I am, I’d hate to see him go now on the strength of those two friendlies.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

All stories came for one source caughtoffide.com so I wouldn't give those speculations much attention. At least not for now.

It will all depend on how he gells will the likes Suarez, Downing and Gerrard, and how he handles more competitive games. Certainy not inconceivable that he would be a first team regular this season if he stays fit and has come back with a good attitude.
I don't think we'd have signed Adam if we were intent on keeping Aquilani

I only would like to see him stay and get the proper chance to prove himself.

You forgot the Peter Frampton, Peter Frampton, Peter Frampton. I hope youre all listening to Peter Frampton albums, and not Frampton Comes Alive but the studio version of 'Baby I Love Your Way' on repeat.

                          Eat some Peter Frampton bitches:bird:

But bar that omission I agree with you. Ideally I'd like to see him do it against someone a bit better than a Malaysian pub team and some Chinese misfits but he'll be a big player this year (IOO)
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

                            Behrami hopeful on Aquilani
Ex-Hammers man wants midfielder make Serie A move
By Simone Bargellini. Last Updated: July 18, 2011 7:21pm

Fiorentina's Valon Behrami hopes Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani will join him at the Serie A club.

Aquilani's future is uncertain after being linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, having spent last season on loan at Juventus.

Juve were not interested in signing the Italy international permanently but their Italian rivals, Fiorentina, are thought to be chasing his signature.

Reds owner John Henry hinted over the weekend that he still sees a future for Aquilani at Anfield, while the players' agent has previously cooled talk of a Viola move.

But former West Ham man Behrami remains optimistic of the 27-year-old arriving at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, insisting he would be a valuable addition to the Fiorentina squad.

                            Qualities

"Aquilani to Fiorentina? He has excellent qualities," said Behrami. "With him I'm sure we could make a quantum leap.

"Aquilani is a major player that could bring excitement among the fans. He would be suited to our team."

Behrami, who joined Fiorentina from West Ham in January, admits he is finding pre-season training tough after three years away from Italy.

"We are working hard on the physical level," he added. "The preparation is very different from England.

"It has been three years since I worked so much in the pre-season and I'm no longer used (to it)."
