Have you read Gibbo's "Decline and Fall"?

          (Yes, Gibbo, not Gibbon.)

The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Alberto Aquilani says Liverpool asked for too much money for him

            Telegraph

ALBERTO Aquilani has hit out at Liverpool for their transfer policy over the midfielder, with the now Fiorentina man accusing the club of over-valuing him.

"Did I feel unwanted? I think you all know how things went for me," he said. "I would have stayed at Milan if I had played 25 games. After my 22nd appearance, I was told that I would not play any more games.

"I appreciate their honesty. They explained to me that it was due to economic issues, and they preferred not to spend that money.

"Even the year before, I had a very high asking price; one that Juventus chose not to excercise.

"The market has changed and Liverpool always asked too much money for me."

Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

He's basically admitting he's worthless. Must be hard to come to terms with.

                Ho hum.

I guess the money he has made and are still making help soften the pain.
I`ll call myself worthless every day if someone paid me half what he`ll get over his career.

Maybe if he wanted to stay and fight he might have been worth more. Its hard to sell a player no one wants. Cant blame the club for holding out to get money though.

                      Ridiculous comments from Alberto.

Fancy his club asking for a fair transfer fee when they'd forked out €20m and £125,000-a-week on him.

Was there add-ons to his initial fee if he played 23 games for us?

Oh and i'm pretty hard pushed to think of a more disastrous signing for our club. Given the fee, wages, money made when we sold him ( ) and who he was brought in to replace.

An unmitigated disaster and a massive black mark against Rafa.

Of course, it's a fair point and worth raising if Arn ever comes back. But then can you think of a top ten manager who's been around a few years hasn't made a transfer mistake of that magnitude? Wenger maybe...
