Loving these Villas Boas comments. He will be a great journeyman manager. One of the reasons I did not want him at LFC.

I'd love to work in Argentina, Chile and Japan. I love Tokyo. But this is my dream job [being Porto's manager] and I want to be here for many years. I know it's not usual Porto's managers staying here more than two years, but I love my city and all this environment that surrounds the club.
It's true that players have individual ambitions, but they can't put them above the collective goal. I've lived experiences abroad, but my feeling for this club [Porto] is extremely strong. That doesn't mean everyone shares it. I would never leave this chair [his job at Porto].
I longed for this position [Porto's job] in an insane, blind way. It's the club I defend, where I grew up. Any fan of any club knows what he feels for his team. I do it with the same passion. This is the ultimate goal I always wanted.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

How long do we give him then before a falling out with Roman?

and that is only the compensation bit. If you include the wages then he probably spent £100m+.

He's gonna be as successful as the new signings they get.

If they acquire the likes of Falcao, Hulk, Mouthinho, Neymar and/or Kun it will makes things pretty easy for him in his first year there.

Not sure if anyone's posted this yet, but it made me lol. Souness really is a comedian

Souness: Chelsea appointing Villas-Boas was a big mistake

Graeme Souness *believes Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has gaffed big-time in replacing Carlo Ancelotti with *Andre Villas-Boas.

Abramovich paid £13.2million in compensation to Porto to make Villas-Boas his new boss after firing Ancelotti for failing to win any silverware last season.

But Souness claims the 33-year-old’s achievements at the Portuguese club have been played up too much.

Souness said: “Chelsea are a big concern for me. The new manager and his new backroom team are relatively inexperienced. I worry for Chelsea.

“I just didn’t see any sense in *getting rid of the previous manager. I thought Ancelotti was a good *manager, tried and tested at the highest level.

“The guy they have got in now is untried. Being successful in Portugal, where I worked for two years, isn’t the biggest of deals. The way they have got it set up at Porto – from the president down – they are more or less *guaranteed *success every year there.”

Souness also feels the fact that Villas-Boas never played the game *professionally, as well as his relative managerial inexperience, will see him struggle to control the *Chelsea dressing room.

“The guy never played the game. I don’t think he’s been around top players all his life and he’s not got that experience,” said *Souness.

“Nothing prepares you for management at the highest level.

“The reason I think *Chelsea will have *difficulty this year is *because he’s going to take a year to find out exactly what it’s all about in England. When you look at what they had last year with Ancelotti, he has been around the block many times and won everything as a player and manager.

“ I thought he was a perfect fit for them.”
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                            Mine angry and defrauded young?

To be fair he's a bit of an expert when it comes to managerial appointments and big mistakes.
