Also wasn't there some threat that if you went above UEFA to the CAS, you're effectively disqualifying yourself (as a club) from UEFA registrations/competitions etc?

I thought if an appeal to the CAS fails, then Uefa have the right to increase any punishment.

Fact is City are a nothing team with no support and a shallow global profile. They are no Madrid... No PSG... No Bayern... not even the biggest team in Manchester.

Who would really miss them from Europe?

CAS can only take on an appeal against a decision made by a governing body once the governing body's own processes have been exhausted.

The first port of call after any UEFA sanction is to appeal to UEFA.

This was my thinking as well hence the post, the decision hasn't been made never mind going through the UEFA appeals process.

CAS' repsonse -

Cas said in a statement: "The appeal is filed against decisions taken by the Investigatory Chamber of the Uefa Club Financial Control Body regarding [the club's] alleged non-compliance with Uefa's Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations.

"An arbitration procedure will now be initiated and will involve an exchange of written submissions between the parties while a panel of Cas arbitrators is convened to hear the appeal."

How can there be an investigation and arbitration before uefa have even held their own investigation. Smells like ****.

As I said before it makes no sense for an appeal to be going on when the decision hasn't been announced, it seems like there is something dodgy going on whereby they can agree something behind the scenes before anything is announced.
